STREET ALLEY (ALLEY NO. 120) AND LA SALLE AVENUE ALLEY (ALLEY NO. 121)

RECOMMENDATION:
1. Accept the work performed by Patriot Paving, Inc., and authorize the City Clerk to file the
Notice of Completion.
2. Release the Labor and Material Bond seven (7) months after the filing date; release the
Faithful Performance Bond one (1) year after the filing date; and release the retention monies
35 days after the Notice of Completion filing date.
BACKGROUND:
On June 17, 2014, a construction contract in the amount of $186,603.25 was awarded to Patriot
Paving, Inc., 2300 N. Batavia Street, Orange, California 92865. This project consisted of
rehabilitation of the following alleys (Attachment No. 1):
1. Baker Street Alley (Alley No. 120), located east of Mendoza Drive between Mission Drive and
Baker Street;
2. La Salle Avenue Alley (Alley No. 121), located west of La Salle Avenue between Mission Drive
and Alley No. 120.
The rehabilitation of these two alleys consisted of the removal of the existing asphalt concrete
alley sections, the construction of new Portland Cement Concrete (PCC) pavement sections, and
other incidental work needed to complete the project in accordance with the contract documents.

ANALYSIS:
The work required by the contract documents was completed on November 7, 2014, to the
satisfaction of the City Engineer. The final contract cost amounted to $186,006.00. A report of
the final costs is included herein as Attachment 2.
A summary of the costs is as follows:

The final contract price reflects a less than one percent (1 %) decrease to the original contract as a
result of the final quantity adjustments.
As of this date, there are no Stop Notices filed against the monies due to Patriot Paving, Inc.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
There were no alternatives considered for this item.
FISCAL REVIEW:
This project was funded from appropriated CDBG funds in the Fiscal Year 2013-2014 budget.
LEGAL REVIEW:
There is no legal review required on this item.
CONCLUSION:
The 2013-2014 CDBG Project: Baker Street
(Alley No. 121) Improvement Project, City
recommended that the City Council authorize
remaining retention monies 35 days after the
bonds accordingly.
Alley (Alley No. 120) and La Salle Avenue Alley
Project No. 14-05, has been completed. It is
staff to file the Notice of Completion; release the
Notice of Completion filing date; and release the
