Subject: Feasibility Study for Amenities/Portable Bleachers at Costa Mesa High School Mustangs Field Facility
I am writing in support of the feasibility study for additional capital improvements (additional seating) at the
new (under construction) Mustangs Field Facility at the Costa Mesa High/Middle School.
It is never too late to do a great job!
I just recently visited the OCSD Wastewater Treatment Plant facility in Fountain Valley and was impressed by
the vision that the original planners had over 50 years ago. Expansion and room for growth of any facility
should be an integral part of the design process, especially for a sports facility such as the one planned for the
Costa Mesa School!
it is never too late to make changes that will improve the quality of life for generations to come - especially
now in the construction phase of this facility. Please consider all the functions that will benefit from additional
seating at this facility.
Sincerely,

Subject: Re: Support for Partnering with the City
To my City Council Members,
Hello, I am so grateful that you are willing to help our school, CMHS to attain the bleachers and amenities needed to help
complete our field. I am very proud of the work we have done here at CMHS since 2013 in regards to the upcoming
Mustang Facility, I was there when my freshman football and soccer son, now a Senior, and friends as we went
to several Board of Education meetings supporting the idea of our own Home Field, at Costa Mesa High School. I already
had had one of my sons already go through CMHS from 7th grade to 12th grade, graduating in 2012. He had a very
successful academic career at CMHS as well as Football career and was given the opportunity to also play football at
Chapman University. He will be graduating this May with his Degree.. Soon I will have 2 sons who have graduated from
Costa Mesa High School. Both of my boys played their hearts out in the Football and soccer seasons, being leaders on
their teams, keeping the teams lifted up, working out and sticking together in good and bad.
As they become Alumni, there is nothing more exciting for them and all Alumni, but to have a HOME field to go to, one
that belongs to the school, to the Alumni, one that they can feel proud of. Having both of them work so hard to attain this
field, is what drives them to make this a real situation.
Since I am not from California and away from my Wisconsin family, having my sons here in this school, makes me feel
like an Alumni also. If we can find a way to make this Stadium available to all the fans that want to come, the alumni, the
staff, parents and friends of the teams, I would think the Board would be very excited for us. Over the past 8 years, we
have had to haul food, equipment, have buses take our soccer, Band, Track, Football, teams to our home games at the
Jim Scott Field. This has been a great facility, but many of our School community has not had the experience of these
games. The distance has caused a major downfall in our fan base and the feeling of home games unlike a real home
game.
As an employee of the School, I also see so many students ask how to get to the Jim Scott field, will there be a bus to
take them or just plain say they are sad they can't get to the school to see their friends play. Finding a bus, or driving is
not at all like, walking across campus to see a game. Realistically, kids don't and can't travel that far, especially
at night. If we had a facility that would house our home games and allow for the student body, parents and fans to go,
the school would see a resurgence of school spirit, ASB would be able to see more ASB card sales, the teaching staff
would get more involved, and the list goes on.
The projected number of approximately 553 seats on the average sold to the CMHS games at Jim Scott DO NOT take in
to account all the fans that wanted to come due to transportation or lack of school spirit due to the games not being at
CMHS. The real number of seats will double I am sure.
Thank you for considering to help up complete this facility so we can have our home games, have tournaments. We are
overjoyed at the opportunity in front of us to see the CITY of Costa Mesa help us with the Bleachers and other
amenities for the new facility. These fields have been used for so many events, Pilot Cup, Marathons and other non
school related events, that I feel this is a great match for CMHS.
Please sign into effect the help we needi n the feasibility study and the bleachers to help our school have what they need
to hold Band, Cheer, Track, Soccer, Football, Lacrosse and any other sport that can use this facility.
Thank you so very much for caring about our school.
