Dear Mayor Foley,
I think a median along Placentia near Fairview Park could be good for safety. However, there is
potential for the medians to block the view of Fairview Park while driving by. In some ways that
could be good thing if it can block the urban world that surrounds Fairview Park as viewed from
inside the park.
Alternatively it might better to frame Fairview Park as viewed from Placentia that would honor
one of the seven great wonders of Costa Mesa while people drive by.
The best situation would be to have any new medians look good from inside the park as well as
from traveling on Placentia.
As far as the plant palette goes, I hope a biologist has a say. It might be a good idea to have
Southern California natives but probably not any that would endanger animals that might feed on
them. A native clump grass for the entire median with a few native trees here and there might be
nice if it has to be built.
As far as rocks go, if any have to be used I hope they would be smooth natural river rocks or
boulders that look like they might have come from the Santa Ana River.
Sincerely,
Brian Burnett
