HomeMy WebLinkAbout07-26 - Approving Planning Application PA-06-66 (Placing Huscroft House on Local Historic Register)RESOLUTION NO. 07- 26 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING PLANNING APPLICATION PA -06-66 TO PLACE THE HUSCROFT HOUSE ON THE CITY'S LOCAL HISTORIC REGISTER. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, an application was filed by John Morehart with respect to the real property located at 546 Bernard Street, requesting placement of the Huscroft House on the City's local historic register; and WHEREAS, a hearing was held by the Planning Commission on January 22, 2007, with Planning Commission recommending approval of the request; and WHEREAS, a duly noticed public hearing was held by the City Council on March 6, 2007. BE IT RESOLVED that, based on the evidence in the record and the findings contained in Exhibit "A" the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby APPROVES placement of the Huscroft House on the City's local historic register. The information presented complies with Costa Mesa Municipal Code Section 13- 200.53.(a)(2)b. in that the Huscroft House is a structure that has special architectural value in the City and that the listing of the Huscroft House on the City's local historic register will allow it to be protected, consistent with the intent of the City's Historic Preservations code. B. Providing direction to Planning staff to prepare the necessary resolution for City Council to adopt implementation of the Mills Act is consistent with General Plan Goal HCR -1A.5, which seeks the adoption of incentives such as the Mills Act to encourage the preservation of significant historic resources such as the Huscroft House.
