HomeMy WebLinkAbout74-59 Bonds of the City Clerk, City Treasurer, and Director of FinanceORDINANCE NO. 1 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA AMENDING SECTION 2-5 COSTA MESA 2 MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE BONDS OF THE CITY CLERK, CITY TREASURER AND !DIRECTOR OF 3 FINANCE, AND ESTABLISHING THE METHOD OF DE- TERMINING THE PRINCIPAL OF SAID BONDS. 4 5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY 6 ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: 7 SECTION 1: The City Council of the City of Costa 8 Mesa hereby finds and declares that the principal bond amounts 9 set forth the Treasurer and the Director of Finance for the City 10 of Costa Mesa appear to be incorrect as stated. The City Council 11 further finds and declares that Section 36518 Government Code 12 provides that the principal amount of said bonds shall be an 13 amount recommended by the City Attorney and fixed from time to 14 time by the City Council by Resolution. The City Council further 15 finds and declares that said bond amount may be changed from 16 time to time during the terms of office of bonded parties. The 17 City Council further finds and declares that it is necessary 18 for the convenience of the Council that Section 2-5 Costa Mesa 19 Municipal Code be amended in certain aspects. 20 Accordingly, Section 2-5 Costa Mesa Municipal Code 21 is hereby amended to read as follows: 22 SECTION 2: "Section 2-5 Bonds of Clerk, Treasurer 23 and Director of Finance. 24 The City Clerk, the City Treasurer and the Dir - 25 ector of Finance shall severally execute bonds to the City for 26 the faithful performance of their official duties in amounts to 27 be established as follows: 28 (a) The City Clerk, minimum $5,000.00. 29 (b) The City Treasurer, minimum $100,000.00. 30 (c) The Director of Finance, minimum $100,000.00. 31 The principal amounts of the bonds as set out 32 heretofore are minimum amounts and may be increased from time to -1- 1 time by Resolution of the City Council to amounts as recommended 2 by the City Attorney." 3 SECTION 3: This ordinance shall take effect and be in 4 full force and effect thirty (30) days from and after its passage, 5 and before the expiration of fifteen (15) days after its passage, 6 shall be published once in the Orange Coast Daily Pilot, a news - 7 paper of general circulation printed and published in the City of 8 Costa Mesa, together with the names of the members of the City 9 Council voting for and against the same. 10 PASSED AND ADOPTED this lft.
