HomeMy WebLinkAbout197 - Terms of Office for Appointive Offices, Boards and Commissions, and Repealing ORD No. 79ORDINANCE N0. 197 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING TERMS OF OFFICE FOR APPOINTIVE OFFICES, BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS, AND REPEALING ORDINANCE NO. 79. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does ordain as follows= SECTION 1. City Clerk; City Treasurer; City Attorney. On the third Tuesday of April of each even -numbered year, the City Clerk, City Treasurer and City Attorney shall each, respectively, be appointed for terms beginning on that date and ending on the third Tuesday of April of the next even -numbered year. SECTION 2. Planning Commission. Members of the City Planning Commission shall be appointed for a four-year term. The terms of the initial members of the City Planning Commission shall be staggered by a combination of one-year, two-year, three-year or four-year terms to obtain the maximum staggered terms. SECTION 3. Vehicle Parking District Commissioners. Vehicle Parking Dist- rict Commissioners shall be appointed for a term of three years in a manner required by law. All other Boards and Commissions appointed by the City Council shall, except as otherwise specifically provided by the Council or as otherwise required by law, be appointed for two-year terms. SECTION 4, Ordinance No. 79 of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby repealed. SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30) days from and after its passage; and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the passage thereof, this Ordinance, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting for and against the same, shall be published once in the COSTA MESA GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa.
