HomeMy WebLinkAbout202 - Regulation of Private Detectivesfollows: follows: ORDINANCE N0. _o2,0.2- AN 24.2 AN ORDINANCE OF THE; CITY OF COSTA MESA AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 148 BY ADDIWG PROVISIONS FOR THE REGULATION OF PRIVATE DETECTIVES THERETO, AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 25 BY REPEAL- ING CERTAIN SUBDIVISIONS OF A SUBSECTION THEREOF. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby ordain as follows: SECTION I The title of Article I of Ordinance No. 148 is hereby amended to read as "REGULATION OF PATROL SYSTEMS, PATROL SERVICES, AND PRIVATE DETECTIVES." SECTION II Section 1 of Article I of Ordinance No. 148 is hereby amended to read as "SECTION 1. Definitions. "Patrol System" and "Patrol Service" include any service or system which furnishes to members, subscribers, or private individuals cr residents, for a consideration, any patrolman, guard or watchman, either uniformed cr otherwise, to patrol or guard any district, or to act to salvage, guard, or protect any property from theft, fire, damage or other hazard. "Private Detective" includes any person engaged in, managing, operating or carrying on the business of private investigation for hire or reward or of supplying information as to the personal char- acter, actions or identity, business or occupation of any person." SECTION III Subdivisions (i) through (vii) inclusive, of subsection (b) of Section 11 of Article R of Ordinance No. 25, are hereby r epealed. SECTION IV This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30) days from and after its passage; and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days from the pass- age thereof, this Ordinance, together with the names of the members of the City Council voting for and against the same, shall be published once in the COSTA MESA GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa.
