ORDINANCE NO. 258
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 63, REGULATING AND LICENSING TAXICABS AND MOTOR
BUSES AND THE, DRIVERS THEREOF.
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 7 of Ordinance No. 63 is hereby amended to read as
"LIABILITY INSURANCE REQ1TRED BEFORE A CERTIFICATE SHALL BE, ISSUED BY THE
CITY FISCAL OFFICE.. The applicant to whom a certificate shall have been awarded
by the City Council as aforesaid shall deliver to the City Fiscal Officer a policy
of insurance executed by a company duly authorized under the laws of the State of
California to be an insurance business, by the provisions of which policy the said
company promises and undertakes to pay in full all claims for damages to persons or
property resulting from the operation of the automobiles referred to in said applic-
ation, provided that the maximum amount for which liability shall be assumed for
injury to or for death of one person in any one accident shall not be less than
One Hundred Thousand Dollars ($100,000.00), and for injury to or death of more than
one person in any one accident shall not be less than Two Hundred Thousand Dollars
($200,000.00), and the maximum amount for which liability shall be assumed for injury
to or destruction of property in any one accident shall be not less than Five Thousand
Dollars ($5,000.00)."
SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in full force thirty (30)
days from and after its passage, and prior to the expiration of fifteen (15) days
fromthe passare thereof, this Ordinance, together with the names of the members of
the City Council voting for and against the same, shall be published once in the GLOBE -
HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the
City of Costa Mesa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 17th day of August, 1959.
