AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A REVISION AND CODIFICATION OF THE
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, ENTITLED:
"MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA";
PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND FOR
OTHER PURPOSES HEREINAFTER SET FORTH.
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That there is hereby adopted by the City of Costa Mesa that
certain Code entitled "MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA", containing certain
ordinances of a general and permanent nature as compiled, consolidated, revised, cod-
ified and indexed in the following chapters, namely, Chapters 1 to 9, both inclusive,
of which Code not less than three copies have been and are now filed in the Office
of the City Clerk and which is hereby referred to and adopted by reference as if
incorporated and set out at length in this Ordinance under the provisions of Sections
50022.1 to 50022.8, inclusive, of the Government Code of the State of California.
SECTION 2. That the provisions of such Code shall be in force on and after
March 24th, 1)60, and all conflicting ordinances of a general and permanent nature in
force on said date, and not contained in such Code, are hereby repealed from and after
March 24th, 1960, except as hereinafter provided.
SECTION 3. That the repeal provided for in the preceding section of this
Ordinance shall not affect any offense or act committed or done or any penalty or
forfeiture incurred or any contract or right established or accruing before the 24th
day of March, 1960; nor shall such repeal affect any ordinance or resolution promising
or guaranteeing the payment of money for the City or any evidence of the City's in-
debtedness, or any contract or obligation assumed by the City; nor shall such repeal
affect the administrative ordinances or resolutions of the Council not in conflict
4ith or inconsistent with the provisions of such Code, nor shall it affect the annual
tax levy, nor shall it affect any right or franchise conferred by ordinance or res-
olution of the City Council on any person or corporation; nor shall it affect any ord-
inance naming, opening, accepting or vacating streets or alleys in the City, or relat-
ing to annexations thereto;;nor shall it affect any prosecution, suit, or proceeding
pending, or any judgment rendered on or prior to March 24th, 1960.
SECTION 4. That any violation of such Code shall be a misdemeanor and be
punishable by a fine not exceeding Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00) or imprisonment in
jail for a term not exceeding six (6) months or by both such fine and imprisonment.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance
and within fifteen (15) days after the passage thereof shall cause this Ordinance to
be published, as required by law, in the GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of gen-
eral circulation, printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa, and this Ordinance
shall take force and effect after its passage as provided for herein.

"Upon motion by Councilman Pinkley, seconded by Councilman Meyers, title only
was read and second reading given to Ordinance No. 293, being AN ORDINANCE
ADOPTING A REVISION AND CODIFICATION OF THE ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, ENTITLED: "MUNICIPAL CODE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA";
PROVIDING FOR THE REPEAL OF CONFLICTING ORDINANCES AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES
HEREINAFTER SET FORTH. The motion carried unanimously with Councilman B. Smith
absent. Uponmotion by Councilman Meyers, seconded by Councilman Pinkley,
Ordinance No. 293 was adopted by the following roll call vote:

NOES: COUNCILMEN NONE
