AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
DECLARING ITS INTENTION TO ORDER THE VACATION OF CERTAIN
STREET AND ALLEY RIGHTS OF WAY IN PROPERTY OF THE COSTA
MESA UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT WITHIN BLACK "C" OF TRACT N0. 612
IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA.
WHEREAS, a certain portion of the rights of way for Sterling Avenue lying
within the property of the Costa Mesa Union School District in Block "C: of Tract
No. 612, particularly described herein, is not now used for public street purposes,
will not be required for public street purposes, and public interest will best be
served by the abandonment of the same; and
WHEREAS, this City Council has received a request from the said Costa Mesa
Union School District that said rights of way for street and alley purposes lying
within the property of said School District, be abandoned;
NOW., THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of C:.sta Mesa does hereby declare
its intention to vacate all those certain rights of way for street and alley purposes
described as follows:
A portion of Block "C" of Tract No. 612, as shown on a map thereof,
recorded in Book 20, pages 1 and 2, of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of
Orange County, C-lifornia, described as follows:
Parcel A. A strip of land 60.00 feet in width, 30.00 feet on both sides
of and adjoining the following described centerline:
Beginning at the intersection of the extension of the southerly line of
Lot 6 with the centerline of an alley shown on a map of said Tract Nj. 612
in Block "C" thereof; thence northerly along said alley centerline to an
intersection with the extension of the southerly line of Hamilton Street,
60.00 feet in width.
Parcel B. That land bounded by the following described line: Beginning
at the intersection of the westerly line of Parcel A, described above,
with the southerly extension of Hamilton Street; thence westerly along
said southerly line to the point of tangency with a curve having a radius
of 15.00 feet, concave southwesterly; thence southeasterly along said
curve to its point of tangency with the westerly line of said Parcel A;
thence northerly along said westerly line to the point of beginning.
Parcel C. That land bounded by the following described line: Beginning
at the intersection of the easterly line of Parcel A, described above,
and the southerly extension of Hamilton Street; thence easterly along
said southerly line to its point of tangency with a curved line having
a radius of 15.00 feet, concave southeasterly; thence southwesterly along
said curved line to its point of tangency with the easterly line of
Parcel A; thence northerly along said easterly line to the point of beginning.
Parcel D. A strip of land 20.00 feet in width shown as an alley on
said map of Tract No. 612 in Block "C" thereof, extending from the
extension of the southerly line of Lot 12 to the extension of the
southerly line of Lot 6 of said block and tract.
Parcel E. A strip of land 20.00 feet in width, being the easterly
20.00 feet of Lot 9 in said Block "C" of said Tract No. 612.
RESERVING THEREFROM and subject to all existing rights of public agencies
and public utilities for any and all utility purposes granted or actually
in use as of this date, under, over, or along said property, and whether
recorded or unrecorded.
SECTION 2. Monday, the ?.*J day of , 1961, at the hour of 7:30
o'clock p.m., in the Council Chamber at the Costa Mesa City Hall, 695 West 19th
Street, Costa Mesa, California, is hereby fixed as the time and place for hearing
all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed vacation.
SECTION 3. The City Manager of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed
to cause notices of the said proposed vacation to be posted conspicuously along said
parcels of land for at least ten (10) days before the date of said hearing. Said
notices shall be posted not more than three hundred (300) feet apart, but in no event
shall less than three (3) be posted.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance, together with the names of the members of the
City Council voting for and against the same, shall be published once in the GLOBE -
HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation printed in the City of Costa
Mesa, County of Orange. This Ordinance shall take effect upon completion of pub-
lication.
