HomeMy WebLinkAbout96-75 - Allocate Measure M Funds for Newport Blvd/17th St Intersection Improvement ProjectRESOLUTION NO. 96- A 6 - A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY TO ALLOCATE MEASURE M FUNDS FOR DESIGN OF THE NEWPORT BOULEVARD/17TH STREET INTERSEC- TION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority approved a Measure M Streets and Roads Program for fiscal year 1996-97; and WHEREAS, the program includes $153,356.00 in fiscal year 1996-97 for an intersection improvement project at Newport Boulevard and 17th Street; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa has adopted a General Plan Circulation Element which does not preclude implementation of the Master Plan of Arterial Highways within its jurisdiction; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa awarded the contract for the project on August 5, 1996; and the City of Costa Mesa has completed the required preparatory work in accordance with the standards required by the City and other affected jurisdictions involved with said project; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Costa Mesa hereby requests that the Orange County Transportation Authority allocate $138,020.00 of Measure M funds from the Intersection Improvement Program for design of the Newport Boulevard/ 17th Street Project to the City. This request is in conformance with the Measure M allocation process and does not exceed ninety (90) percent of the programmed amount. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City of Costa Mesa agrees to fund any additional costs over the identified programmed Measure M dollars. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the remaining ten (10) percent in Measure M funds will be transferred to the City of Costa Mesa when construction is complete and a final report on the project is accepted by the Orange County Transportation Authority. The City of Costa Mesa agrees to submit the final report to the Orange County Transportation Authority within ninety (90) days after the City's acceptance of the improvements.
