DISTRICT IN TSE I110MI:ORATED TEMITORT IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIP'CMNIA, AND OBDEBING THE ACgJISITION OF PARKING PLACES
PURSUANT TO THE VEHICLE PARKING DISTRICT L&W OF 1943.
WMMAAS, by Ordinance No. 48 of the City of Costa Mesa, hereinafter
referred to as the Ordinance of Intention, adopted the 21st dao of June,
1954, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa declared its intention
to form a vehicle parking district in the incorporated territory in Costa
Mesa and to order the acquisitions described in said ordinance, all pur-
suant to the Vehicle Parking Lav of 1943.
WHEREAS, by said ordinance, Monday, the 2nd day of August, 1954,
at the hour of 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Council of
the City of Costa Mesa at the Justice Court, 567 West Eighteenth Street,
Costa Mesa, California, Was fixed as the time and place for the hearing
of protests to the things therein proposed to be done, the extent of the
proposed district, or both.
WfI REAS, said ordinance having been published for the time and in
the manner required by law, and copies thereof having been posted and
mailed within the time and in the manner required by lax, and proof of
such'publication, posting and mailing having been filed with the City
Council of the City of Costa Mesa.
WHEREAS, said matter came on regularly for hearing before the City
Council of the City of Costa Mesa on said August 2, 1954, at the hour and
place fixed in said Ordinance of Intention, and said Council having heard
all protests and objections, both written and oral, and having heard and
considered all the evidence presented in said matter and being fully
advised thereon.
NOW, SEE, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does
ordain as follows:

SBCTION 1. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby
finds that owners of more than one half of the area of the property
included within the proposed district and subject to assessment have
not made written objections or protests to the things proposed to be
done as an entirety.
SBCTICB 2. All protests and objects ons to the formation of the
proposed district, the extent thereof, and to the things proposed to be
done as described in the Ordinance of Intention, are, and each of them
is, hereby denied.
SBCi'ION 3. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby
finds and determines that the public interest and necessity require the
acquisitions described in the Ordinance of Intention, to which ordinance
reference to hereby made for full particulars relating to said acquisi-
tions.
SNCTION 4. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby
declares that a vehicle parking district wholly located in the incorpora-
ted territory of the City of Costa Mesa as hereinafter described is
hereby formed pursuant to the Vehicle Parking District Law of 1943,
The boundaries of said district are hereby fixed, established and
defined as follows:
Beginning at the point of intersection of the center line
of Newport Avenue and the Northwesterly prolongation of
the Northeasterly line of Lot 2, Block MBs, of Harper, as
said Newport Avenue and Lot 2 are shown on a map thereof
recorded in Book 6, Page 27 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of Orange County, California; thence Southeasterly along
the Northwesterly prolongation of the Northeasterly line
of said Lot 2 and along said Northeasterly line and the
Southeasterly prolongation thereof to an intersection with
the center line of the alley, 10.00 feet in width, as
shown on said map of Harper; thence Northeasterly along
said center line of alley to an intersection with
Northwesterly prolongation of the Northeasterly line of
Lot 25 of Tract No. 847 as shown on a map thereof,
recorded in Book 26, Page 7 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records
of said Orange County; thence Southeasterly along the
said Northwesterly prolongation of the Northeasterly
line of Lot 25 and along the Northeasterly line of Lots
25. 26, 27, 28 and 29 of said Tract No. 847 to the most
Basterly corner of said Lot 29; thence Southwesterly
along the Southeasterly line of said Lot 29 to the most

Southerly corner thereof; thence Southwesterly in a
direct line to the most Easterly corner of Lot 16 of
said Tract No• 847; thence Southwesterly along the South-
easterly line of said Lot 16 and the Southwesterly prolongation
thereof to an intersection with the center line of the
alley, 15.00 feet in width, as shown on said map of Tract
No. 847; thence Northwesterly along the center line of
said alley to an intersection with the center line of the
alley, 10.00 feet in width, lying Southeasterly of Lots 5 to
12 inclusive of Block "A" of said Harper; thence Southwest-
erly along the center line of alley and along the North-
westerly line of Lot 17, Block "A" of said Harper to a
point 111,00 feet Northeasterly of the most Westerly corner
of said Lot 17; thence Southeasterly along a line parallel
to the Southwesterly line of said Lot 17 to a point 5.00
feet Northwesterly of the Southeasterly line of said Lot
17; thence Northeasterly along a line parallel to said
Southeasterly line of said Lot 17 to a point 165.00 feet
Southwesterly of the Northeasterly line of said Lot 17,
said Northeasterly line of Lot 17 being the center line of
Magnolia Street; thence Southeasterly along a line parallel
to the said Northeasterly line of Lot 17 and the Northeast-
erly line of Lot 16, Block "A" of Harper 54.00 feet; thence
Southwesterly along a line parallel to the said Southeasterly
line of Lot 17 to a point in the Southwesterly line of
said Lot 16; thence in a direct line to the cos t Easterly
corner of Lot 79 Tract No. 337 as shown on a map thereof,
recorded in Book 14, Page 44 of Miscellaneous Maps,
Records of said Orange County; thence Southwesterly along
the Southeasterly line of Lot 7, 150.00 feet, thence
Northwesterly along a line parallel to the Northeasterly
line of said Lot 7 to the most Southerly corner of Lot 6
of said Tract No. 337; thence Northeasterly along the
Southeasterly line of Lot 6 to the most Easterly corner
thereof; thence Northwesterly along the Northeasterly
line of said Lot 6 and the Northwesterly prolongation
thereof to an intersection with the center line of the
alley, 15.00 feet in w idth, as th own on said map of
Tract No. 337; thence Southwesterly along the center line
of said alley to a point of intersection with the South-
easterly prolongation of the Southwesterly line of Lot 5
of said Tract 337; thence Northwesterly along the said
Southeasterly prolongation of the Southwesterly line of
Lot 5 and the Southwesterly line of said Lot 5 and the
Northwesterly prolongation thereof to an intersection
with the center line of Newport Avenue as shown on
said map of Tract No, 337; thence Southwesterly in a
direct line to the point of intersection of the center
line of Newport Avenue with the center line of 18th
Street as shown on a map of Tract No. 180 First Addi-
tion to Harper, recorded in Book 9, Page 20.of Miscel-
laneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California;
thence Westerly along the said center line of 18th
Street to an intersection with the center line of the
alley, 20.00 feet in width, lying within Block "C" of
said Tract No, 18; thence Northeasterly along said
center line of alley to an intersection with the center
line of Center Street, fromerlry Balboa Street, as shown
on a map of said Tract No. 18; thence Easterly along

the center line of Center Street and the Easterly pro-
longation thereof to an intersection with the cater line
of Newport Avenue as Newport Avenue is shown on said
map of Harper; thence Northeasterly along said center
line of Newport Avenue to the point of beginning.
SECTION $. The vehicle parking district hereby formed shall be
numbered, and the designation of the district shall be N9ehicle Parking
District No. 1 of the City of Costa Mesa".
SECTION 6. The acquisitions described in the Ordinance of Intent-
ion are hereby ordered to be made and performed, and the City Attorney,
of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby authorized, empowered and directed
to bring an action or actions in the name of the City of Costa Mesa
in the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County
of Orange, for the condemnation of the property necessary and proposed
to be acquired as described in the Ordinance of Intention; provided,
however, that any land acquired by purchase or by gift need not be
included in the condemnation action, or, if included, need not be condemned.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
thirty (30) days from and after its passage, and prior to the expiration
of fifteen days from the passage thereof this ordinance, together with
the names of the members of the City Council voting for and against the
same, shall be published once in the Costa Mesa Globe Herald, a news-
paper printed in the City of Costa Mesa.
