ORDINANCE NO. I J to
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DECLARING ITS INTENTION
TO ORDER THE VACATION OF A RIGHT OF WAY FOR THE OPENING OF A
PORTION OF ADAMS AVENUE IN THL CITY OF COSTA MESA.
WHEREAS, a certain deed of right of way, recorded in Book 2133, page
344, Official Records of Oran;*e County, California, was executed under date of
December 11, 1950 by Orange Coast College, Grantor to the County of Orange,
for the opening of a portion of that certain highway commonly known as Adams
Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa, in and by virtue of its incorporation
on June 29, 1953,► has acquired jurisdiction over said right of way; and
WHEREAS, said portion of that certain highway known as Adams Avenue
is not now used for public street purposes, will not be required for public
street purposes, and public interest will best be served by the same being
restored to private right of way; and
WHER11S, the City Council has received a request that said right of
way be abandoned;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does ordain
as follows:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby de-
clare its intention to vacate that portion of that certain highway commonly
known as Adams Avenue, described as follows:
A strip of land sixty (60) feet in width and being thirty (30)
feet on each side of the following described center line:
Beginning at the intersection of the center lines of Fairview
Avenue (now known as Harbor Boulevard) and Myrtle Avenue (now
known as Adams Avenue) as shown on a map of FAIRVIEW recorded
in Book 25, Pages 77 and 78, Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles
County, California, and running thence from said point of. begin-
ning, N. 890 34' 15" E., along the center line of Myrtle Avenue
(now known as Adams Avenue) 80.00 feet to the beginning of a
curve tanvent, concave Northwesterly and having a radius of
200 feet; thence, Northeasterly along said curve through a central
angle of 450 00' 00", 157.08 feet to a line tangent; thence, N.
446 34' 15" E., along said tangent line 190.17 feet to the begin-
ning of a curve tangent, concave Southeasterly and heaving a rad-
ius of 200 feet; thence, Northeasterly along said curve through
a central angle of Oho 56, 0011, 156.85 feet to a line tangent;
said tangent line being the center line of a private street
designated as 116th St."
and reference is hereby made to Map No. 4118 recorded in Book 2133, Page 347,
Official Records of Orange County, California, for further particulars as to
said vacation.

SECTION 2. Monday, the Lith day of Parch, 1957, at the hour of 7:30
in the Chambers of the City Council at the Justice Court, Newport Beach Judicial
District, 567 ',lest 18th Street, Costa "Mesa, California, is hereby fixed as the
time and place for hearing all persons interested in or objecting to the proposed
vacation.
SECTION 3. The City Manager of the City of Costa Mesa is .hereby directed
to cause notices of the said proposed street vacation to be posted conspicuously
along that part of the street proposed to be vacated at least ten (10) days befo
the date of said hearing. Said notices shall be posted not, more than three hun-
dred feet apart, but in no event less than three (3) shall be posted.
SECTION Lj. This Ordinance, together with the names of: the members of
the City Council voting for and against the same shall be published once in the
Cosa;. Mesa lobe -Herald, a .newspaper of Coneral circulation printed anct published
in th.e City of Costa Mesa, County of Orange. This Ordinance shall take effect
upon the completion of publication.
