RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council designate Mayor Genis as the delegate for the upcoming 2018 Annual SCAG
Regional Conference & General Assembly.
BACKGROUND/ANALYSIS:
This year 's annual SCAG Regional Conference & General Assembly will be held Thursday, May
3rd through Friday, May 4th in Indian Wells, California. The Annual General Assembly meeting will
take place on Thursday, May 3rd at 11:00 a.m. and is one of the most important sessions of the
Conference. SCAG requests that each member city appoint a delegate to vote at this Assembly.
It is during the Annual General Assembly that resolutions are adopted, setting the legislative
platform for SCAG in the coming year. SCAG by-laws entitle each city to one vote in matters
affecting municipal or SCAG policy. Each member city is entitled to designate a delegate to
participate in the voting.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED:
Do not appoint a delegate or City Council may choose another City Council member.
