A,N ORDINANCE OF TH1; C.! TY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
FIXING THE AMOUNT OF REVKT E FROM PROtMTY TAXES NECESSARY
TO SUPPORT THE DEPARTMENTS OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA FOR TFE
FISCAL YEAR 1957-1958, IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 51508 OF
THE GOVERNMENT CODE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, AND FIXING
THE RATE OF TAXES TO BE U,VIED FOR THE SAID FISCAL YEAR.
The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby ordain as follows:
SECTION 1. That the amount of revenue from property taxes necessary to support
the departments of the City of Costa Mesa during the Fiscal Year 1957-1958 be, and the
same is hereby, fixed and determined to be the sum of $271,836.00.
SECTION 2. That there is hereby levied upon all the taxable property within
the City of Costa Mesa which is taxable therein for municipal purposes a tax for the
purpose of raising the necessary money with which to carry on the various departments
of the City of Costa Mlesa fcr the current fiscal year 1957-1958.
SECTION 3. That the rate per centum of the tax hereinafter levied shall be,
and is hereby fixed as the sum of One Dollar (4','1.00) on each One Iiunared Dollars
($100.00) of value designated for fund as follows:
For Current Expense Fund One Dollar (y l.00)
Total Tax Levy
One Dollar ($1.00)
SECTION 4, Urgency. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force
immediately upon adoption as an "urgency ordinance". The facts constituting the urgency
are as follows:
Section 51511 of the Government Code of the State of California requires the
City legislative body to fix the rate of taxes annually, before September lst, and
further provides that the legislative body shall immediately transmit to the County
Auditor a statement of the rates fixed. Since the next regular meeting of the City
Council of the City of Costa Mesa falls on September 3rd, 1957, it is necessary that
this Ord:.nance be effective immediately in order that the regulations of the Government
Code may be fulfilled.
SEC TION 5. Enactment. This Ordinance shall take effect immediately, and
within fifteen (15) days thereafter, this Ordinance, together with the names of the
members of the City Council voting for and against the same, shall be published once
in the Costa Mesa Globe -Herald, a newspaper printed and circulated in the City of
Costa Mesa.
