RESOLUTION NO. 93-79
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, CONCERNING PARTICIPA-
TION IN A COUNTYWIDE SIGNAL PREEMPTION SYSTEM.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority has requested the City of Costa
Mesa's support for a countywide traffic signal preemption system; and
WHEREAS, a countywide traffic signal preemption system will be developed to serve
police, fire, and other emergency vehicles; and
WHEREAS, this system will be compatible between jurisdictions; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa supports a feasibility study regarding a countywide
traffic signal preemption program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa does not support the use of Measure M funds for
a traffic signal preemption system;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Costa Mesa supports a
feasibility study on the concept of a countywide traffic signal preemption system to serve only
emergency vehicles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City requests the Orange County Transportation
Authority to explore alternative funding sources other than Measure M funds for traffic signal
preemption systems.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of September, 1993.
