A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, REQUESTING THE ORANGE
COUNTY TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION TO INCLUDE WITH-
IN THE ORANGE COUNTY UNIFIED TRANSPORTATION TRUST
(OCUTT) FUND, IMPROVEMENTS TO THE TRAFFIC SIGNAL
NETWORK.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DETER-
MINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve traffic signal
coordination along the arterial streets listed below; and
WHEREAS, the City's Master Plan of Arterial Highways is consistent
with the County of Orange Master Plan of Arterial Highways; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa will provide 50 percent in matching
funds for each project; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Commission intends to allo-
cate revenue from the Orange County Unified Transportation Trust Fund for
the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the county;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa hereby requests the Orange County Transportation Commission to
allocate funds in the amounts specified in the City's application to said
City from Orange County Unified Transportation Trust Funds. Said funds
shall be matched by funds from said City and shall be used to aid the City
in the improvement of the following street(s) for fiscal year 1989-90:
1. Adams Avenue - provide traffic signal interconnect linking to the
City of Huntington Beach. Estimated City cost - $632.00.
2. 17th Street - provide traffic signal interconnect linking to the
City of Newport Beach. Estimated City cost - $23,598.00.
3. Harbor Boulevard - upgrade the CALTRANS traffic signal control-
lers at the northbound and southbound I-405 ramps. Estimated City cost -
$5,791.00.
4. Bristol Street - upgrade the CALTRANS traffic signal control-
lers at the northbound I-405 ramps. Estimated City cost - $1,500.00.
5. Baker Street - provide traffic signal interconnect to link the
traffic signal at College Avenue into the network. Estimated City cost -
$17,467.00.
6. Harbor Boulevard - replace the telephone link from Adams Avenue
to Baker Street with underground cable. Estimated City cost - $37,706.00.
7. Irvine Avenue - joint signal upgrade and interconnect project
with the City of Newport Beach. Estimated City cost - $41,870.00
Total estimated City cost - $128,564.00.
