HomeMy WebLinkAbout896 - Determining Prevailing Wage Rates27 RESOLUTION NO. 896 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, ASCERTAINING AND DETERMINING THE PREVAILING RATE OF WAGES TO BE PAID FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC IMPROVEMENTS BY PUBLIC CONTRACT. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, is required pursuant to the provisions of Section 1773, et seq., of the labor Code of the State of California to find and determine the general prevailing rate of per diem wages for the construction and performance of public work contracts, and WHEREAS, said general prevailing rates of per diem wages are set forth in a document entitled "1961 Wage Scales for the Six Basic Trades", as revised June 1, 1961, and further set forth in a document entitled "1961 Sub -Trades Hourly Wage Rates of Building and Construction Trades Unions", dated October, 1961, prepared and submitted by the Building and Construction Trades Council of Orange County, said documents being attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof; NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, that "Wade Scales for the Six Basic Trades, 1961", and "Sub -Trades Hourly Wage Rates of Building and Construction Trades Unions", dated June 1, 1961, and October, 1961, respectively, as set forth in those certain documents of the Building and Construction Trades Council of Orange County, copies of which said documents are attached hereto and by this reference made a part hereof, be, and the same are hereby found and determined to be the general prevailing rates of per diem wages in the locality for the performance of public works; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that not less than one and one-half (1-1/2) times the prevailing rate shall be paid for any working time in excess of eight (8) hours in any one calendar day and for Saturdays, Sundays and seven (7) legal holidays, to wit, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas. For less than eight (8) hours per day the per diem rate shall be that fraction of the set forth per diem rates that the number of hours of work bear to eight (8) hours; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the rate of compensation for any classification 28 not listed in the schedule, but which may be required to execute any public works contract shall be commensurate and in accord with the rates specified for similar or comparable duties.
