HomeMy WebLinkAbout890 - Kaiser No. 1 AnnexationRESOLUTION N0. 890 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA GIVING NOTICE OF PROPOSED ANNEX- ATION TO THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA. (KAISER NO. 1 ANNEXATION) WHEREAS, there is situated outside and contiguous to the City of Costa Mesa, a certain unincorporated area as hereinafter more particularly described; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa desires to annex the hereinafter described territory on its own motion without requiring a petition; and WHEREAS, the reasons for desiring said annexation is that the territory consists of the Elementary School and Park Site and it is important that said school and park site be located within the City in order for the City to cooperate in the solving of the drainage problem in said area; and WHEREAS, it was submitted to the Orange County Boundary Commission on August 14, 1961, a legal description and map of the proposed annexation area; and WHEREAS, said Orange County Boundary Commission did on August 21, 1961, make its report on said proposal. as follows: NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved, determined and ordered Section 1. That the Annexation hereinafter described shall be known and designated as KAISER NO. 1 ANNEXATION. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa have initiated the annexation described herein on its own motion. Section 3. That the reasons the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa desires to annex said territory is that said territory consists of the Elementary School of the Costa Mesa Union School District and a Park Site, and it is desirable in order to solve the drainage problems for said area that the area be within the City of Costa Mesa in order for said City to participate and aid in solving said drainage problem. Section 4. That the territory herein being annexed is des- cribed as follows: Beginning at a point, said point being the intersection of the centerline of 21st Street, 60 feet in width, with the centerline of Santa Ana Avenue, 100 feet in width, as shown on a map of Newport Heights, recorded in Book 4, page 83 of Mis- cellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California; thence South 500 East, along said centerline of 21st Street, 30.00 feet, to the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, California, as said boundary is described in the Official Description of the Original Boundary line of the City of Costa Mesa, California, in a resolution of the Board of Supervisors, Orange County, California, dated June 25, 1953, filed and accepted by the Secretary of State, State of California, June 29, 1953; thence North 400 East, along said existing boundary, parallel with the centerline of Santa Ana Avenue, 330.15 feet to the Northwesterly prolongation of the Southwesterly line of Lot 265 of said Newport Heights, the trine point of beginning of the land herein described; thence North 400 East, 660.30 feet, to the Northwesterly prolongation of the Northeasterly line of hot 275 of said Newport Heights; thence, departing from the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, South 500 East, along the Northwesterly prolongation of the Northeasterly line of said Lot 275, the Northeasterly line of said Lot 275 and the Northeasterly line of Lot 276 of said Newport Heights, 833.00 feet; thence South 409 West, 165.08 feet; thence South 509 East, 100.00 feet; thence South 400 West, 165.07 feet, to the Northeasterly line of hot 266 of said Newport Heights; thence South 500 East, along said North- easterly line of Lot 266 and the Southeasterly prolongation thereof, 387.00 feet, to the Southeasterly line of Tustin Avenue, 60.00 feet in width, as shown on said map of Newport Heights; thence South 400 West, along said Southeasterly line of Tustin Avenue, 330.15 feet to the Southeasterly prolonga- tion of the Southwesterly line of Lot 266 of said Newport Heights; thence North 500 West, along said Southeasterly prolonga- tion of the Southwesterly line of Lot 266 and the Southwesterly line of Lot 266, 387.00 feet; thence South 400 West, 300.15 feet; to the Northeasterly line of 21st Street, 60 feet in width, as shown on said Map of Newport Heights; thence North 500 West, along said Northeasterly line of 21st Street, 567.00 feet; thence North 400 East, 300.15 feet, to the Southwesterly line of Lot 265 of said Newport Heights; thence North 500 West, along said Southwesterly line of Lot 265, 366.00 feet, to the true point of beginning. Section 5. That a hearing with respect to said annexation shall be held on October 2, 1961, at the hour of 7:30 P.M. o'clock, in the City Council Chambers of the City of Costa Mesa, located at 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, California; that the purpose of said hearing is to hear protests which have been filed by any person owning real property within said territory proposed to be annexed; that at any time before the hour set forth for said hearing, an owner of the property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the annexation; that the protest shall state the name of the owner of the property affected, and `— give a description of said property in general terms. Section 6. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to said hearing, in the Costa Mesa -Globe Herald & Pilot, a newspaper of general circulation published in the City of Costa Mesa, and also in the Santa Ana Register, a newpaper of general circulation published in the County of Orange and outside the City of Costa Mesa. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to mail a written notice of the proposed annexation to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last avail- able equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon, or as known to said Clerk. The City Clerk is further directed to cause written notice of the proposed annexation to be mailed to the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange.
