HomeMy WebLinkAbout900 - Twichell No. 1 Annexation34 RESOLUTION NO. 900 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA OF IION TO ANNEX A CERTAIN UNINHABITED AREA DESIGNATED AS TWICHELL NO. 1 AXTEXATION, AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City of Costa Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly described; and WHEREAS, the owners of all the land in the territory by area and by assessed value as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same annexed with the City of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of the City of Costa Mesa to annex the said hereinafter described property; and WHEREAS, there has been submitted, on or about the 23rd day of October, 1961, to the Orange County Boundary Cemmtission, a legal description and plat of the said hereinafter described uninhabited area, for its report, pursuant to the provisions of Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the report of the Orange County Boundary Commission has been secured and reported upon by said Boundary Commission with respect to the definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, a municipal corporation, to annex the said real pro- perty as hereinafter described, which said real property is contiguous to the present boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the City of Costa Mesa to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of -Costa Mesa, which said real property shall, in these proceed- ings, be Down as Annexation No. 54 to the City of Costa Mesa, and bear the name "TWICHELL NO. 1 ANNEXATION". The specific description of the boundaries of the territory, proposed to be annexed is as follows: Beginning at a point, said point being the intersection of the Northwesterly prolongation of the Northeasterly line of Lot 235, Newport Heights with the centerline of Santa Ana Avenue, 100 feet in width, as said intersection is shown on a map of Newport Heights, recorded in Book 4, Page 83 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California; thence South 500 East, along the northwesterly prolongation of the northeasterly line of Lot 235, 30.00 feet, to a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, California, as said boundary in described in the Official Description of the Original Boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, California, in a resolutim of the Board of Supervisors, Orange County, California, dated June 25, 1953, filed and accepted by the Secretary of State, State of California, June 29, 1953, the true point of beginning of the land herein described; thence de- parting from the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, South 500 East, along the northwesterly prolongation of the north- easterly line of said Lot 235 and the northeasterly line of said Lot 235, Newport Heights, 398.00 feet; thence South 400 West, 330.15 feet, to the southwesterly line of said Lot 235, Nenort Heights; thence North 500 West, along said southwesterlyâ–º line of Lot 235, Newport Heights, 398.00 feet, to a line 30.00 feet south- easterly of and parallel to the centerline of said Santa Ana Avenue, said parallel line also being the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, California, as described in said original description; thence North 4Oo East, along said existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, 330.15 feet, to the true point of beginning. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on the 4th day of December, 1961, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m., on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Council Chamber of the City Hall of the City of Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be held, at which hearing the City Council shall hear and pass upon all written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said hearing by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed to be annexed and at any time before the said hour set for said hearing any owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the annexation. The protest shall set forth the name of the owner of the property affected and give a description of the said property in general terms. The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed and authorized to cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to said hearing in the ORANGE COAST DAILY PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa and within the County of Orange. %_ PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of November, 1961.
