RESOLUTION NO. 62-86
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, DETERMINING THE RESULTS OF HEARING ON RESOLUTION
OF INTENTION TO MAKE CHANGES IN THE WORK PROPOSED TO BE DONE,
OVERRULING PROTESTS, AND DETERMINING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST,
CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY REQUIRE CERTAIN CHANGES IN THE WORK
PROPOSED TO BE DONE IN THE IMPROVEMENT OF MONROVIA AVENUE AND
CERTAIN OTHER STREETS, ALLEYS AND EASEMENTS (ASSESSMENT
DISTRICT NO. 9)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa did, on the
21st day of May, 1962, adopt Resolution No. 62-69, declaring its intention to
make changes in the work proposed to be done in the improvement of Monrovia
Avenue and certain other streets, alleys and easements, to wit; as set forth
and described in said Resolution No. 62-69, as hereinafter set forth, and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 62-69 was published as required by
law, and
WHEREAS, said Resolution No. 62-69 fixed the time and place for
hearing of objections to the proposed changes for the 18th day of June, 1962;
and
WHEREAS, the contractor and successful bidder to whom the contract
was awarded for said improvement of Monrovia Avenue and certain other streets,
alleys and easements, to wit: the Sully -Miller Contracting Company, has filed
with the City of Costa Mesa its written consent to the proposed changes in the
work set forth in said Resolution No. 62-69; and
WHEREAS, the time and place so fixed for hearing was held by the
said City Council at which hearing all written protests or objections were
presented, read, and all persons desiring to be heard thereon were heard, and
no person having filed any written protests or objections, no person desiring
to be heard, the City Council having given all persons present an opportunity
to be heard;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa,
California, does hereby resolve, determine and order as follows:
Section 1. That Resolution No. 62-69, adopted on the 21st day of
May, 1962, has been duly and regularly published as required by law.
Section 2. That the Sully -Miller Contracting Company has filed with
the City Clerk its written consent to the proposed changes as set forth in said
Resolution No. 62-69•

Section 3• That no written protests or objections to the pro-
posed changes have been filed with the Clerk of the City Council.
Section 4. That the public interest, convenience and necessity
require that the proposed changes be made and ordered.
Section 5• That this City Council does hereby determine and
order that
the
following
changes
be
made
in the
work
proposed to be
done,
Beginning at the Northeasterly corner of
Lot 1106, thence Southerly along the Easterly line
to wit:
140.00 feet Northerly of and measured at right
angles and parallel with the Southerly line of said
Lot 1106.
The Westerly line of said strip of land 20.00
feet in width shall be lengthened or shortened so

The grading, paving with asphalt concrete over aggregate base
and seal coat, construction of curbs and gutters, cross gutters, removing
obstructions and appurtenant work in connection therewith in the
STORM DRAIN EASEMENT
located between Sunset Drive and 18th Street, over and across the following
described property, to wit:
Parcel 1:
A strip of land 20.00 feet in width lying within
Lot 1106 of Newport Mesa Tract, as shown on a map
thereof recorded in Book 5, Page 1, Miscellaneous
Maps records of Orange County, California, the
Easterly line of which is described as follows:
Beginning at the Northeasterly corner of
Lot 1106, thence Southerly along the Easterly line
of Lot 1106 a distance of 190.00 feet to a line
140.00 feet Northerly of and measured at right
angles and parallel with the Southerly line of said
Lot 1106.
The Westerly line of said strip of land 20.00
feet in width shall be lengthened or shortened so
as to terminate in the Northerly line of said Lot
1106, and the above described line 140.00 feet
Northerly of the Southerly line of Lot 1106. As
shown on a map attached hereto and made a part of
this description.
Parcel 2:
A strip of land 15.00 feet in width, 'being the
Easterly 15.00 feet of Lot 1105 of Newport Mesa
Tract as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book
5, Page 1 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of Orange
County, California; the Easterly line of which is
described as follows:
Beginning at the Northeasterly corner of Lot
1105, said corner being 30.00 feet Southerly of the
center line of 18th Street measured along the
Northerly prolongation of the Easterly line of Lot
1105, thence Southerly along said Easterly line to
the Southerly line of Lot 1105• As shown on a map
attached hereto and made a part of this description.

A. Delete construction of storm drain channel and appurtenant work
in connection therewith in the easement located between Sunset Drive and 18th
Street, over and across the following described real property, to wit;
B. Delete portion of Newhall Street from 660 feet from the Centerline of
Monrovia Avenue to 842 feet Westerly of the Centerline of Monrovia Avenue,
to wit, the grading, paving with asphalt concrete over aggregate base
and seal coat, construction of curbs, and gutters, cross gutters,
drainage inlet structure, removing obstructions and appurtenant work in
connection therewith as follows;
A strip of land 6.00 feet in width lying within
Lot 1105 and Lot 1106 of Newport Mesa Tract, as shown
on a map thereof, recorded in Book 5, Page 1 of Mis-
cellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California,
the Easterly line of which is described as follows:
Beginning at the Northeasterly corner of Lot 1105
of said Newport Mesa Tract, said corner being 30.00
feet Southerly of the centerline of 18th Street, measured
along the Northerly prolongation of the Easterly line
of said Lot 1105, thence Southerly along the Easterly
line of Lot 1105 and 1106 of said Newport Mesa Tract
490.0 feet, to a line 140.0 feet Northerly of, measured
at right angles, and parallel with the Southerly line of
said Lot 1106. The Westerly line of said strip of land,
6.00 feet in width, shall be lengthened or shortened

C. Deletion of Servonics Avenue between 16th Street and 390 feet Northerly
from the centerline of 16th Street and the storm drain channel ease-
ment located between Newhall Street and Servonics Avenue, described as
follows, to wit:
A portion of Lot 1111 of Newport Mesa Tract, as shown on a map
thereof, recorded in Book 5, Page 1 of Miscellaneous Maps, records of
Orange County, California, more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the Northerly line of said Lot 1111,
distant thereon, 132.00 feet, Westerly of the Northeasterly corner of
said Lot 1111; thence Southerly along a line 132.00 feet Westerly of,
measured at right angles, and parallel to the Easterly line of said
Lot 1111, 270.00 feet, to a line 60.00 feet Northerly of, measured
at right angles, and parallel to the Southerly line of said Lot 1111;

D. CHANGE OF STREET GRADE: On 16th Street between Stations 19 / 00 to 23 { 06
Westerly of the Centerline of Monrovia Avenue.
1. The Street grades to be changed from the grade shown on the original
Sheet N3 of Plan No. 10, on file in the office of the City Engineer
and the City Clerk of said City, to the grade as shown on Amended
Sheet No. 33 of said Plan .......................................... None
Section 6. That the City Council has determined from the Engineer's Estimate
that the aforesaid changes in the work proposed to be done do not increase the
estimated cost by more than ten (10%) per cent; that the amount of the estimated
increase in the cost of the work by reason of said changes is none; that the
amount of the estimated decrease in the amount of the work by reason of said
changes is $5,688.80.
Section 7. That by this Resolution it is the intention of this City Council
to order the aforesaid changes of work by the affirmative four-fifths (4/5) vote
of all members present thereof.
