HomeMy WebLinkAbout63-41 - Memorial to Marion Lee Pickens - Water District ManagerRESOLUTION No. 63-41 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA REGRETTING THE LOSS OF MARION LEE PICKENS, GENERAL MANAGER OF THE COSTA MESA COUNTY WATER DISTRICT. WHEREAS, Marion Lee Pickens assumed the general managership of the newly formed Costa Mesa County Water District at its inception 1n 1960, and carried it through the difficult period of organization and development; and WHEREAS, Lee Pickens distinguished himself as an authority on water supply and system maintenance, and was recognized throughout the State as an outstanding manager in his chosen field; and WHEREAS, he served this community well and faithfully and his loss is felt throughout the entire City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that this City and its citizens regret the loss of Marion Lee Pickens as a valued civic leader and loyal public servant who devoted his best efforts to the best interests of his City; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution shall be entered in the permanent records of the City of Costa Mesa; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby instructed and directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the family of Lee Pickens with the deep sympathy of this City Council as a body, and, by unanimous vote, as individuals.
