HomeMy WebLinkAbout65-01 - Arterial Highway Financing - Harbor BoulevardRESOLUTION NO. 65-1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMENT OF HARBOR BOULEVARD. WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve Harbor Boulevard from 19th Street to Wilson Street; and WHEREAS, Harbor Boulevard is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest; and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds ap- portioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a City; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, pro- vide in the County Budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1965-1966, a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the in- corporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allo- cate to said City from County funds the amount of $90,750.00, said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improve- ment of Harbor Boulevard from 19th Street to Wilson Street, and for the acqui- sition of necessary rights of way; said improvements and acquisition of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights of way on Harbor Boulevard, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Costa Mesa agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highway Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way will be available for the Fiscal Year, 1965-1966.
