HomeMy WebLinkAbout63-96 - Establishment of Sidewalk Policy73 RESOLUTION No. 63-96 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA ESTABLISHING A SIDEWALK POLICY IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA WHEREAS, the provision of sidewalks throughout the City of Costa Mesa is necessary for the safety of children, the convenience of pedestrians and shoppers, and the improvement and beautification of the City; and WHEREAS, this Council has fostered, encouraged and completed a city-wide street widening and improvement program that primarily aids and expedites the flow of vehicular traffic; and WHEREAS, every subdivider who develops a tract within the City is, and has been, required to provide sidewalks in addition to street improvements; and WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City that a complete, comprehensive and unified sidewalk system be created; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that it shall be the policy of this Council to require the installation of sidewalks when and wherever 250 feet or more of street frontage is included in any variance, change of tone, conditional use permit, building moving permit, record of survey, or subdivision of less than five parcels within the City.
