RESOLUTION N0. 64-40
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
IN RECOGNITION AND APPRECIATION OF THE DISTINGUISHED PUBLIC
SERVICE OF JOHN W. SMITH, COUNCILMAN AND FORMER MAYOR OF THE
CITY OF COSTA MESA.
WHEREAS, JOHN W. SMITH on this day completes his term of office as a
member of the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, he has served his City loyally and well --as Councilman since
July 1, 1957, and as Mayor from April 15, 1958, to April 19, 1960; and
WHEREAS, throughout his public service he has distinguished himself by
his devotion to the best interests of his City, and by his consistent efforts
to build a better Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, his fellow Councilmen, who have served with him through the
years, know and appreciate the extent of his personal dedication to the cause
of civic advancement and progress;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa, on behalf of the people of Costa Mesa, that the outstanding civic service
of Councilman John W. Smith be, and it is hereby, formally recognized and com-
mended; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Council, on behalf of the citizens of
the City, hereby takes this opportunity to express to John W. Smith his community's
sincere and wholehearted appreciation of his efforts as a dedicated public servant;
and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is
hereby directed to enter this Resolution in the permanent records of the City,
and to transmit a certified copy thereof, with the best wishes of the City, to
Councilman John W. Smith.
