HomeMy WebLinkAbout64-93 - Urging Elimination of Sales Tax on City Purchases302 RESOLUTION No. 64-93 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA URGING THE ELIMINATION OF STATE SALES TAX ON CAPITAL ITEMS PURCHASED BY POLITICAL SUBDMSIONS. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa has discussed, studied and considered the sales tax laws of the State of California as they apply to the purchase of capital items by cities; and WHEREAS, this Council has found and determined it to be in the best interests of the State of California and of the political subdivisions of the State of California, to eliminate State sales tax on capital items purchased by political subdivisions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that the representatives of the City of Costa Mesa in the Legislature of the State of California be, and they are hereby urged to introduce legislation to eliminate the State Sales Tax on capital items purchased by political subdivisions within the State; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Orange County Division of the League of California Cities and other cities pass and adopt similar resolutions and support a program to eliminate the provisions of the State Sales Tax herein set forth.
