HomeMy WebLinkAbout64-117 - Regulating Access to Streets in General Plan344 RESOLUTION N0. 64-117 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, ESTABLISHING CONTROL OF ACCESS TO ALL STREETS AND HIGHWAYS SHOWN ON THE COSTA MESA COMPREHENSIVE LONG RANGE GENERAL PLAN. WHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore adopted The Costa Mesa Comprehensive, Long Range General Plan, and Amendments thereto; and WHEREAS, it is for the best interests of City, in order to Promote traffic safety, that access to the streets and highways shown on said Plan be controlled. NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved by the City Council as follows: 1. No new access into private property or any additional access or change of access into private property from any street or highway shown on the Costa Mesa Comprehensive, Long Range General Plan, as amended from time to time, shall be permitted without the approval of the Traffic Engineer of the City of Costa Mesa. 2. Any person desiring access to private property on such streets or desiring to alter or change existing accesses shall furnish to the Traffic Engineer of the City sufficient information as requested by the Traffic Engineer to enable him to make his determination. 3. The Traffic Engineer shall approve or disapprove or alter or amend the request for access, using as a standard, accepted traffic safety concepts. The approval or rejection of the request shall be in writing. 4. In the event the Traffic Engineer rejects such request for access, the person whose request is rejected shall have the right to appeal to the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa by writing a letter to the City Clerk making such request.
