HomeMy WebLinkAbout64-121 - Proclaiming "Bill of Rights Week"351 RESOLUTION N0. 64-121 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA PROCLAIMING THE WEEK OF DECEMBER 14-19, 1964, AS "BILL OF RIGHTS WEEK"IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. WHEREAS, the Bill of Rights was adopted as a part of the Constitution of the United States of America 173 years ago, on December 15, 1791; and WHEREAS, these first ten amendments to our Constitution preserve and maintain basic rights and freedoms for our citizens of every race and creed; and WHEREAS, every citizen must assume a personal responsibility for the continuation of these rights, not only for our freedom but also for the freedom of the generations that will follow; and WHEREAS, civic organizations and institutions throughout the country will commemorate the anniversary of the adoption of the Bill of Rights; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that the week of December 14th through December 19th, 1964, be and it is hereby designated and proclaimed as "BILL OF RIGHTS WEEK" in the City of Costa Mesa; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that every citizen of Costa Mesa is hereby urged to take part in the proper and fitting observance of this great American anniversary.
