HomeMy WebLinkAbout64-122 - Supporting Pop Warner Football352` RESOLUTION N0. 64-122 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA COMMENDING AND URGING SUPPORT FOR POP WARNER FOOTBALL IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. WHEREAS, Pop Warner Football was introduced in Costa Mesa in 1963 with 33 boys participating and a single team in play; and WHEREAS, the number of boys between the ages of nine and thirteen taking part in this nation-wide program has tripled within a year, and two teams were supported in 1964; and WHEREAS, one of our local teams has won the Orange County Championship and is a leading contender for the Southern California Championship; and WHEREAS, the objective of the Pop Warner Football program is to offer an opportunity to play to every boy interested, and the project is supported by voluntary contributions; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa that Pop Warner Football be, and it is hereby, commended and approved as a valuable opportunity for the youth of Costa Mesa to acquire proficiency and skill in organized football; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the citizens of Costa Mesa are hereby urged to give their wholehearted support to this program to make it possible for more boys to participate in this worthwhile activity.
