OF INTENTION TO AhbER A CERTAIN IDCINHABITED AREA DESIGNATED
AS "SWPLCWEri NO. 2 ANNEXATION", AND GIVING NOTICE THE"?EOF.
WiEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City of Costa
Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly described; and
AHEP.EAG, the owners of over one-fourth of the land and territory by area
and by assessed valuation as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the
Ccrty of Oran -e have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same
annexed with the City of Costa tiesa; and
WhEiEAS, it would be for the Lest interest of the City of Costa Mesa to
annex the said hereinafter described property; and
WHE_iEAS, there has peen submitted, on or about February L, 1960, to the
Orange County do,indary Commission, a 1e -al description and plat of the said here-
inafter described uninhabited area, for its report, pursuant to Section 35002 of
the ;nvernment Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the report of said OranP.e County Boundary Commission has been
secured and reported on b+; the said donndary Commission with respect to the
definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries;
NC�d, THE:3NFCRE, BE IT RESJLVET' by the City Council of the City of Costa
bass, a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter
described, which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of
the City of Costa Less, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited.
NOTICE IS 9EREBY GIVI% that it is proposed by the City of Costa Mesa
to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa i?ess, which
said real property shall, in these proie:•dings, be known as Annexation No. 39
to the City of Costa Ees,, and bear the name 1'Sjl,FL04VhR NO. 2 A'bIdEXATION".
The specific description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be
annexed is as follows:
BeF(inning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa,
said point being the intersection of the easterly line of Bristol Street,
60,00 feet wide, as described in a deed to the County of Orange recorded
in cook 2290, page 511 of Official Records of Orange County, California,
with a line parallel to and 25.00 feet southerly, measured at right angles,
of the centerline of Sunflower Avenue, as described in a deed to the County
of Orange recorded in Book 171, page 94 of Official Records; thence south-
erly along the above-mentioned easterly line of Bristol Street and the
existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa to a point 260.00 feet,
measured at right angles, northerly of the North line of Block "D" of
Berry Tract, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 9, page 6 of
_._srellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence easterly

along a line parallel to and 260.00 feet northerly of, measured at
right angles, the northerly line of Lot 1 and Lot 2 of Block "D" of said
Berry Tract and Lot 4 of Berry Rancho, as shown on a map thereof recorded
in Book 9, page 7 of MLscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County,
California; thence easterly along said parallel line to the southeasterly
line of Newport Avenue, 60.00 feet in width, as granted to the County
of Orange by deed recorded in Book 250, page 73 of Official Records;
thence northeasterly along said southeasterly line of Newport Avenue
to a point in a line lying parallel to and 50.00 feet westerly, measured
at right angles, from the s,:uthcrly prolongation of the centerline of
Main Street, as granted to the County of Orange b, deed recorded in
Book 250, page 73 of'Official Records; thence northerly along said
parallel line to a point in a line lying parallel to and 25.00 feet
southerly, measured at right anul,s, from the centerline of Sunflower
Avenue, as granted to the County of orange by deed recorded in Book
171, page 94 of Official Records; thence westerly along, a line par-
allel to and 25.00 feet s,,utherlc, measured at right angles, from the
centerline of Sunflower Avenue, as described in deeds recorded in
Book 171, page 94 of Official Records of Orange County, and in Book
171, page 320 of Deeds, Records of Los Angeles County, California, to
the point of beginning.
2UHTH5.-R NOTICE 16 HER.BBy GIv EN, that on the 4th day of April, 1960, at
the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter
may be heard, at the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Costa Mesa,
695 west 19th Street, Costa Mesa, California, a'hearing will Be had, at which
hearing- the City Council shall hear and bass upon all written protests filed at
any time before said hour set for said hearing by any person owning real property
within the territory so proposed to be annexed, and at any time be?'ore the said
hour set for said hearin:- any owner of property within the territory proposed to
be annexed may file a written protest a-ainst the annexation. The protest shall
set forth the name of the owner of the propert,,p affected and =ive a description
of the said property in general terms.
The City Clerk of the City of Costa L+esa is hereb,; directed and authorized
to cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior
to said hearing; in the GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation,
printed and published in the City of Costa Liesa, and in the HUNTI1,610N BEACH NEWS,
a newspaper of reneralcirculation, printed and published in the County of Orange.
The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to mail a notice of the
proposed annexation to allpersons to whom land proposed to be annexed is assessed
in the 1,-t available equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon or
as known to said City Clerk.
