RESOLUTION N0. 673
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
OF INTENTION TO ANNEX A CERTAIN UNINHABITED AREA DESIGNATED
AS "PAULARINO NO. 1 ANNEXATION", AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City of Costa
Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly described; and
County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same annexed
with the City of Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of the City of Costa Mesa to
annex the said hereinafter described property; and
WHEREAS, there has been submitted, on or about the 9th day of November, 1959,
to the Orange County Boundary Commission, a legal description and plat of the said
hereinafter described uninhabited area, for its approval, pursuant to Section 35002
of the Government Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the approval of said Orange County Boundary Commission has been
secured and reported on by the said Boundary Commission with respect to the definite-
ness and certainty of the proposed boundaries;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa,
a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter described,
which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of the City of Costa
Mesa, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the City of Costa Mesa to annex
the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Mesa, which said real
property shall, in these proceedings, be known as Annexation No. 36 to the City of
Costa Mesa, and bear the name "PAULARINO NO. 1 ANNEXATION". The specific description
of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed is as follows:
Beginning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of
Costa Mesa, said point being at the intersection of the South line
of Paularino Avenue, distant thereon 3.80 feet West of the West
line of Lot 4, Block "E", Berry Tract, as shown on a map thereof
recorded in Book 30, page 74 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles
County, California; thenceeasterlyalong the existing boundary
of the City of Costa Mesa and the South line of Paularino Avenue
to the West line of Lot 2, Block "E", Berry Tract; thence southerly
along the West line of said Lot 2 to the northerly line of Baker
Street, 80.00 feet wide; thence easterly along the North line of
Baker Street to the East line of said Lot 2; thence northerly
along the said East line to the South line of Paularino Avenue;
thence easterly along the South line of Paularino Avenue to

the owners
of over one-fourth of the land and territory by area
and
by
assessed
valuation as
shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the
County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same annexed
with the City of Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of the City of Costa Mesa to
annex the said hereinafter described property; and

a point, said point being on the southerly prolongation of a
line parallel with the West line of Lot 4, Berry Rancho, as said
Berry Rancho is shown on a map recorded in Book 9, page 7 of
Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, and
800.00 feet westerly of the intersection of the North line of
Paularino Avenue and the Northwest line of Newport Avenue, as
measured along the North line of Paularino Avenue, said northwest
line of Newport Avenue being 80.00 feet, measured at right angles,
northwest of the northwest line of Irvine's Subdivision, as shown
on a map thereof recorded in Book 1, page 88 of Miscellaneous
Record Maps of Orange County, California; thence northerly parallel
with the West line of Lot.4, Berry Rancho, 866.00 feet; thence
easterly parallel with the centerline of Paularino Avenue to
the southeast line of Newport Avenue, 60.00 feet in width, as
granted to the County of Orange by deed recorded in Book 250,
page 73 of Official Records; thence northeasterly along said
southeast line of Newport Avenue to the easterly prolongation of
the North line of Lot 4, Berry Rancho; thence westerly along said
easterly prolongation and the North line of said Lot 4 to the
West line of said Lot 4; thence southerly along said West line,
825.00 feet; thence westerly parallel with the North line of Lot
1, Block V', Berry Tract, as shown on a map thereof recorded in
Book 9, page 6 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County,
California, to the West line of said Lot 1; thence northerly along
said West line to a point thereon distant 200.00 feet from the
North line of said Berry Tract; thence westerly parallel with the
North line of said Berry Tract to the West line of Lot 4, Block
"D", Berry Tract; thence southerly along the said West line and
the southerly prolongation thereof to the South line of Paularino
Avenue; thence easterly along the South line of Paularino Avenue
to the point of beginning.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on the 4th day of January, 1960, at the
hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard,
at the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Costa Mesa, 695 West 19th Stree
Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be had, at which hearing the City Council shall I
hear and pass upon all written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said1111////
hearing by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed to be annex-
ed, and at any time before the said hour set for said hearing any owner of property
within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the
annexation. The protest shall set forth the name of the owner of the property afffected
and give a description of the said property in general terms.
The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed and authorized to
cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to
said hearing in the GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation printed
and published in the City of Costa Mesa, and in the SANTA ANA REGISTER, a newspaper of
general circulation, printed and published in the County of Orange.
The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to mail a notice of the
proposed annexation to all persons to whom land proposed to be annexed is assessed
in the last available equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon or as
known to said City Clerk
