RESOLUTION No. 757
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA,
CALIFORNIA, URGING CITIZEN SUPPORT OF THE PROPOSED HIGH
SCHOOL BOND ISSUE IN THE COMING SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION.
WHEREAS, The Newport Harbor Union High School District will hold a bond
election on July 19, 1960, for the purpose of financing the construction of a third
high school to serve the district; and
WHEREAS, the passage of the proposed school bond issue will enable the
completion of the Costa Mesa High School ahead of schedule; and
WHEREAS, the expansion and development of the high school system is vitally
essential to the welfare and growth of the City; and
WHEREAS, the failure of the citizens to support their school system would
necessitate recourse to Federal funds and consequent loss of local control of local
schools; and
WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City that
said proposed bond issue be given general support and approval;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa that this Council place itself upon record as approving and supporting the
proposed high school bond issue; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all citizens be, and they are hereby, urged to
participate in the Newport Harbor Union High School District bond election on July
19, 196o.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 5th day of July, 1960.
