RESOLUTION NO. 795
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
OF INTENTION TO ANNEX A CERTAIN UNINHABITED AREA CONTIGUOUS
TO THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, DESIGNATED AS "ADAMS NO. 2 ANNEX-
ATION," AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF.
WHEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City of Costa
Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly described; and
WHEREAS, the owners of all the land and territory by area and by assessed
valuation as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Orange
have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same annexed with the City of
Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of the City of Costa Mesa to
annex the said hereinafter described property; and
WHEREAS, there has been submitted, on or about the 3rd day of November, 1960,
to the Orange County Boundary Commission, a legal description and plat of the said
hereinafter described uninhabited area, for its report, pursuant to the provisions of
Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and
WHEREAS, the report of said Orange County Boundary Commission has been
secured and reported upon by said Boundary Commission with respect to the definite-
ness and certainty of the proposed boundaries;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa,
a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter described,
which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of the City of Costa
Mesa, and which property is at the present time uninhabited.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the City of Costa Mesa to annex
the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Mesa, which said real
property shall, in these proceedings, be known as Annexation No. 46 to the City of Costa
Mesa, and bear the name "ADAMS NO. 2 ANNEXATION." The specific description of the
boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed is as follows:
That portion of Section 4, Township 6 South, Range 10 West, in the
lands allotted to Eduardo Pollereno in decree of partition of the
Rancho Santiago de Santa Ana, recorded in Book B of Judgements of
the 17th Judicial District Court of Los Angeles County, State of
California, in the County of Orange, State of California, described
as follows:
Beginning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa,
said point being the intersection of the southerly line of the land con-
veyed to Lincoln Savings and Loan Association by deed recorded on June 9,
1959, in Book 4777, page 303, official records of said Orange County, with
the centerline of Mesa Verde Drive, as shown on a map of Tract No. 3487,
recorded in Book 122, pages 6 to 16 inclusive, Miscellaneous Maps, records
of said Orange County; thence westerly along the existing boundary of the
City of Costa Mesa and said southerly line, South 890 59' 35" West 2029.98
feet to a point on a curve concave westerly and having a radius of 800.00
feet, a radial to said curve at said point bears North 620 54' 58" East;
thence leaving the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa and said
southerly line and proceeding southerly along said curve through an arc
of 260 21' 29" an arc length of 367.99 feet; thence tangent to said curve
South 00 43' 43" East 465.06 feet to a point in a line parallel with and
distant northerly 50.00 feet from the centerline of Adsms Avenue as de-
scribed by deed recorded on December 4, 1908, in Book 160, page 180 of
Deeds, records of said Orange County; thence easterly along said parallel
line North 890 16' 11" East 1916.45 feet to the beginning of a tangent
curve concave northerly and having a radius of 950.00 feet, said curve
also being a line parallel with and distant northerly 50.00 feet from the
centerline of Adams Avenue as described by deed recorded on March 5, 1930,
in Book 358, Page 426, official records of said Orange County; thence
easterly along said curve and said parallel line through an arc of 280 24-
09" an are length of 470.93 feet; thence easterly along said last mentioned
parallel line and tangent to said curve North 600 52' 02" East 1.59 feet
to a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa; thence
northwesterly along the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa North
330 50' 49" West 540.68 feet to the beginning of a tangent curve concave
easterly and having a radius of 2000.00 feet; thence northerly along
said curve and the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa through
an are of 70 27' 23" an are length of 260.28 feet to the point of begin-
ning.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on the 19th day of December, 1960, at
the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. on said day, or as soon as the matter may be heard, at
the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Costa Mesa, 695 West 19th Street,
Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be had, at which hearing the City Council shall
hear and pass upon all written protests filed at any time before said hour set for
said hearing by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed
to be annexed, and at any time before the said hour set for said hearing any owner
or property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest
against the annexation. The protest shall set forth the name of the owner of the
property affected and give a description of the said property in general terms.
The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed and authorized to
cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to
said hearing in the GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa.
