HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-80 - Receive Funds Under CA Safe Routes to School Program for Irvine Ave Pedestrian SignalRESOLUTION NO. 08-80 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC SERVICES TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY AGREEMENTS TO RECEIVE FUNDS UNDER THE CALIFORNIA SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR THE IRVINE AVENUE PEDESTRIAN SIGNAL. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, the California Safe Routes to School (SR2S) Program was established in 1999 through the passage and signing of Assembly Bill 1475 to improve and enhance the safety of pedestrian and bicycle facilities and related infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa has been awarded $175,065 to construct a pedestrian -actuated signal, ADA ramps, signage and pavement markings at the mid - block of Irvine Avenue between East 18th Street to Magnolia Street; and WHEREAS, the grant award process for said funds necessitates the designation of an authorized City official to execute a State Funded Projects Agreement and Program Supplement Agreement. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Costa Mesa does hereby designate the Public Services Director and/or his designee to execute the required agreements and process the necessary reimbursement forms to receive the awarded funds.
