A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
GIVING NOTICE OF A PROPOSED ANNEXATION TO SAID CITY AND
SETTING THE TIME AND PLACE OF HEARING PROTESTS THEREON
WHEREAS, there is situated outside and contiguous to the City of Costa Mesa
a certain unincorporated area as hereinafter more particularly described, and
WHEREAS, it is for the best interests of the City of Costa Mesa and its
citizens that said area hereinafter described be annexed to the City of Costa
Mesa for the reasons that said area is surrounded on three sides by the City
of Costa Mesa, can only be adequately served by the Costa Mesa water system,
for orderly planning and zoning, and the majority of the owners in said area
requested annexation to the City of Costa Mesa, and
WHEREAS, there has been filed with the secretary of the Boundary Commission
of the County of Orange a written description of the proposal for the annexation
of such territory and a report received from said Boundary Commission;
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa does hereby
proceedings on its own motion, pursuant to the provisions of 9 35310 of the
Government Code of the State of California, for the annexation of the following
described territory, to wit;
Beginning at an angle point, in the existing boundary of the City
of Costa Mesa as said boundary is described in the Bristol Number 1
Annexation to the City of Costa Fhsa, California, Ordinance Number 144,
adopted November 23,1956; said angle point being the intersection of
the Southeasterly line of Newport Avenue, 60 feet in width, as granted
to the County of Orange by deed, recorded in Book 250, page 73 of
Official Records, with the Easterly prolongation of the centerline of
the unnamed road Southerly of Lot 2, Block F, Berry Tract, as shown
on a map recorded in Book 30, page 74 of Miscellaneous Records of
Los Angeles County, California; thence along the existing boundary
of the City of Costa Mesa through the following courses and distances;
Westerly along said prolongation and said centerline, a distance of
260 feet, more or less, to the Southerly prolongation of the Easterly
line of said Lot 2; thence Northerly along said Southerly prolongation
and said Easterly line of Lot 2 and the Northerly prolongation thereof,
a distance of 825.00 feet, more or less, to the centerline of the road
between Block "E" and Block "F" of said Berry Tract; thence Westerly
along said centerline, a distance of 317 feet, more or less, to the
Southerly prolongation of the East line of the West four acres of
Lot 9, Block "E" of said Berry Tract; thence Northerly along said
Southerly prolongation and said East line of the said West four acres,
a distance of 635 feet, more or less, to a line 150.00 feet Southerly
of and parallel to the South line of Baker Street, 80.00 feet in width
as described in the deed to the County of Orange, recorded March 27,
1943 in Book 1183, page 294 of Official Records, Orange County,
resolve, determine
and
order as follows;
SECTION 1.
The
City Council of the
City
of Costa
Mesa hereby
initiates
proceedings on its own motion, pursuant to the provisions of 9 35310 of the
Government Code of the State of California, for the annexation of the following
described territory, to wit;

California; thence Easterly along said parallel line, a distance of
197 feet, more or less to the Easterly line of Bristol Street, 80.00
feet in width, as described in a deed to the County of Orange, recorded
December 27, 1949 in Book 1945, page 372 of Official Records, of said
Orange County; thence Southerly along said Easterly line of Bristol
Street, a distance of 8.78 feet, more or less to the beginning of a
tangent curve, concave Westerly, having a radius of 1040 feet; thence
along said tangent curve through a central angle of 30 05' 56", a
distance of 56.25 feet, more or less to a line 215.00 feet Southerly
of and parallel to the South line of Baker Street; thence Easterly
along said parallel line, a distance of 121.52 feet, more or less,
to the Easterly line of said Lot 9; thence Northerly along said East
line of Lot 9, the Northerly prolongation thereof and the Easterly
line of Lot 4, Block "E" of said Berry Tract, a distance of 668 feet,
more or less, to the Southerly line of the Northerly one-half of Lot
3, Block "E" of said Berry Tract; thence Easterly along said Southerly
line of the Northerly one-half of Lot 3, a distance of 106 feet more
or less, to the Easterly line of the West one acre of the Northerly
one-half of Lot 3, Block "E" of said Berry Tract; thence Northerly
along said East line of the West one acre of the Northerly one-half
of Lot 3, a distance of 379.50 feet, more or less, to the Southerly
line of Paularino Avenue, formerly an unnamed street, two rods wide
as shown on said map of Block "E", Berry Tract; thence Easterly along
said Southerly line of Paularino Avenue, a distance of 422 feet, more
or less, to the West line of Lot 2, Block "E", Berry Tract; thence
Southerly along said West line of said Lot 2, a distance of 752 feet,
more or less, to the Northerly line of Baker Street, 80.00 feet in
width; thence Easterly along said Northerly line of Baker Street,
a distance of 528 feet, more or less, to the Easterly line of said
Lot 2; thence Northerly along said East line, a distance of 752 feet,
more or less, to the Southerly line of Paularino Avenue; thence
Easterly along the Southerly line of Paularino Avenue, a distance
of 340 feet, more or less, to a point on the Southerly prolongation
of a line parallel with the West line of Lot 4, Berry Rancho, as
said Berry Rancho is shown on a map recorded in Book 9, page 7 of
Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California, and 800.00
feet Westerly of the intersection of the North line of Paularino
Avenue and the Northwesterly line of Newport Avenue, as measured
along the North line of Paularino Avenue, said Northwesterly line
of Newport Avenue being 60.00 feet, measured at right angles,
Northwest of the Northwest line of the Irvine Subdivision as shown
on a map thereof, recorded in Book 1, page 88 of Miscellaneous
Records Maps, Orange County, California; thence Northerly on said
line, parallel to the West line of Lot 4, Berry Rancho, a distance
of 866 feet to a line parallel to the centerline of Paularino Avenue,
formerly an unnamed street, two rods wide, as shown in Book 30, page
74 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence
Easterly on a line, parallel to the centerline of Paularino Avenue,
a distance of 1599 feet, more or less, to the Southeasterly line of
Newport Avenue, said Southeasterly line being 30 feet Southeasterly
of the Northwesterly line of the Irvine Subdivision as shown on a
map thereof, recorded in Book 1, page 88 of Miscellaneous Records
Maps, Orange County, California; thence departing from the existing
boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, Southwesterly, along said South-
easterly line of Newport Avenue, a distance of 4283 feet, more or
less, to the point of beginning.
SECTION 2. That the territory so proposed to be annexed to the City
of Costa Mesa shall be known as "Paularino No. 4 Annexation."
SECTION 3• That a hearing with respect to said proposed annexation
shall be held on Monday, April 3, 1961, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m.
before the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa in the City Council
Chambers, located in the City Hall at 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa,
California; that the purpose of said meeting is to hear protests or objections.

which have been filed by or on behalf of any owners of property within the
territory proposed to be annexed; that at any time before the hour set for
hearing objections, any owner of property within the territory proposed to
be annexed may file written protest against the annexation. The protests
shall state the name of the owner of the property affected and the description
and area of the property in general terms.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to
cause a copy of this resolution to be published at least twice, but not oftener
than once a week, in the Globe Herald and Pilot, a newspaper of general circu-
lation, published in the City of Costa Mesa, and also in the Santa Ana Register,
a newspaper of general circulation, published outside the City of Costa Mesa,
but in the county in which is located the territory proposed to be annexed.
The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to mail a written
notice of the proposed annexation to each person to whom land within the
territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last equalized assessment
roll of the County of Orange, at the address shown on said assessment roll,
or as known to said Clerk.
