A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA
REQUIRING THE APPROVAL OF THE FALL OUT SHELTER COMMITTEE OF
THE ORANGE EMPIRE CHAPTER, INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILD-
ING OFFICIALS, FOR FALL OUT SHELTER CONSTRUCTION PLANS.
bffiEREAS, modification of the provisions of existing building, sanita-
tion and occupancy codes is necessary for the construction of fall out
shelters within the City of Costa Mesa for the protection of human lives
in periods of emergency; and
WHEREAS, the Orange Empire Chapter of the International Conference
of Building Officials has created a Fall Out Shelter Committee to assure
reasonable compliance with such codes in such emergency construction; and
igHEREASI this City Council deems it to be in the best interest of
the City that said Fall Out Shelter Committee, of which the Building
Official of the City is a member, should approve all plans for the construc-
tion of fall out shelters in the City of Costa Mesa;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa that said Fall Out Shelter Committee be, and the same is hereby,
established and recognized as the approving body for all plans for construe
tion of fall out shelters within the City.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 20th day of March, 1961.
