A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING THE
SUBMI17AL OF FIVE IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS TO THE
ORANGE COUNTY TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY FOR
FUNDING UNDER THE REGIONAL SURFACE
TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA DOES HEREBY RESOLVE,
DETERMINE, AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to implement the transportation
improvements listed below; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa has been declared by the Orange County
Transportation Authority to meet the eligibility requirements to receive Measure M
"turnback" funds; and
WHEREAS, the City's Circulation Element is consistent with the County of
Orange Master Plan of Arterial Highways; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa will provide matching funds for each project
as required by the Regional Surface Transportation Program Guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Transportation Authority intends to allocate
funds for transportation improvement projects within the incorporated cities and the
County; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa will not use Regional Surface Transportation
Program funds to supplant developer fees or other commitments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Costa
Mesa hereby requests the Orange County Transportation Authority to allocate funds in
the amounts specified in the City's application to said City from the Regional Surface
Transportation Program. Said funds shall be matched by funds from said City as
required and shall be used as supplemental funding to aid the City in the improvement
of the following streets:
Northbound 1-405 Anton Boulevard on-ramp;
Newport Boulevard widening, 19`h Street to 17th Street;
East 17 h Street improvements;
SR-55/Baker Street Interchange; and
Wilson Street widening, Newport Boulevard to Fairview Road.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 201h day of September, 1999.
