HomeMy WebLinkAbout681 - Harbor No. 1 Annexation - IntentionM RESOLUTION No. 681 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA OF INTENTION TO ANNEX A CERTAIN UN- INHABITED AREA DESIGNATED AS "HARBOR NO. 1 ANNEX- ATION," AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City of r Costa Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly de- scribed; and WHEREAS, the owners of over one-fourth of the land and territory by area and by assessed valuation as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same annexed with the City of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of the City of Costa Mesa to annex the said hereinafter described property; and WHEREAS, there has been submitted, on or about the 4th day of January, 1960, to the Orange County Boundary Commission, a legal description and plat of the said hereinafter described uninhabited area, for its approval, pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the approval of said Orange County Boundary Commission has been secured and reported on by the said Boundary Commission with respect to the definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter described, which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of the City of Costa Mesa, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited, NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the City of Costa Mesa to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Mesa, which said real property shall, in these proceedings, be known as Annexation No. 37 to the City of Costa Mesa, and bear the name "HARBOR N0. 1 ANNEXATION." The specific description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed is as follows: Beginning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, said point being the northwest corner of Tract No. 2873, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 88, page 23 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California; thence continuing easterly along the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa and along the northerly line of Fairview Farms, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 8, page 71 of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 9, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 9, page 9 of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 2816, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 115, page 17 Of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 3458, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 119, pages 45 and 46 of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 3460, as shown on a map there- of recorded in Book 12, pages 30 and 31 of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 2215 as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 106, page 34 of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 3411, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 118, pages 1 and 2 of Miscellaneous Maps, Tract No. 2327, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 116, pages 34 and 35 of Miscellaneous Maps, and Tract No. 3191, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 121, pages 16 and 17 of Miscellaneous Maps, to a line 50.00 feet easterly of and parallel to the centerline of Harbor Boulevard; thence northerly along said parallel line to the South line of Fairview Tract, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 25, page 76 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence westerly along the southerly line of said Fairview Tract, the North line of Lot "A" of the Banning Tract and the westerly prolongation thereof, as shown on a map thereof filed in Action No. 6385 in the Superior Court of the State of California, in and for the County of Los Angeles, to the easterly line of the Santa Ana River, as shown on a Record of Survey map filed in Book 12, pages 25 to 31, inclusive, of Records of Surveys in the office of the County Recorder of Orange County, California; thence southerly along said easterly line to the westerly prolonga- tion of the North line of Fairview Farms, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 8, page 71 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Crange County, California; thence easterly along said westerly prolongation and the North line of said Fair- view Farms and the North line of Tract No. 653, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 19, page 42 of Miscellaneous Maps, Records of Orange County, California, to the point of beginning. FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: that on the 23rd day of February, 1960, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Coma.il Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Costa Mesa, 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be had, at which hearing the City Council shall hear and pass upon all written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said hearing by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed to be annexed, and at any time before the said hour set for said hearing any owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the annexation. The protest shall set forth the name of the owner of the property affected and give a description of the said property in general terms. The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed and authorized to cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to said hearing in the GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa, and in the NEWPORT HARBOR ENSIGN, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the County of Orange. The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to mail a notice of the proposed annexation to all persons to whoa land proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last available equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon or as known to said City Clerk.
