RESOLUTION NO. 683
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
OF COSTA MESA OF INTENTION TO ANNEX A CERTAIN UN-
INHABITED AREA DESIGNATED AS "ADAMS NO. 1 ANNEX-
ATION," AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF.
LWHEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City

of Costa N.esa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly
described; and
WHEREAS, the owners of over one-fourth of the land and territory
by area and by assessed valuation as shown on the last equalized assessment
roll of the County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having
the same annexed with the City of Costa Mesa; and
WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of the City of Costa
Mesa to annex the said hereinafter described property; and
WHEREAS, there has been submitted, on or about the 4th day of Jan-
uary, 1960, to the. Orange County Boundary Commission, a legal description and
plat of the same hereinafter doscribed uninhabited area, for its report,
pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California;
and
WHEREAS, the report of said Orange County Boundary Commission has
been secured and reported on by the said Boundary Commission with respect
to the definiteness and certainty of the proposed boundaries;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Costa Mesa, a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as
hereinafter described, which said real property is contiguous to the present
boundaries of the City of Costa Mesa, and which property is, at the present
time, uninhabited.
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the City of Costa
Mesa to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa
Mesa, which said real property shall, in these proceedings, be known as
Annexation No. 38 to the City of Costa Mesa, and bear the name "ADAMS N0. 1
ANNEXATION." The specific description of the boundaries of the territory
proposed to be annexed is as follows:
Beginning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of
Costa Mesa, said point being 50.00 feet East of the centerline
of Harbor Boulevard (formerly Fairview Avenue) on the South
line of Fairview Tract, as shown on a map thereof recorded in
Book 25, page 76 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County,

California; thence continuing along the existing boundary of
the City of Costa Mesa northerly 50.00 feet Easterly of and
parallel to the centerline of Harbor Boulevard to the South-
erly line of Dale Way, formerly Maple Avenue; thence Easterly
along the Southerly line of Dale Way to a line 125.00 feet
Easterly of and parallel to the centerline of Harbor Boulevard;
thence Northerly along said parallel line to the Southerly line of Lot
23, Fairview Tract, as shown on a map thereof recorded In Book
25, page 76 of Miscellaneous Records, Los Angeles County,
California; thence Easterly along the Southerly line of said
Lot 23 and Lot 24 of said Fairview Tract to the Westerly line
of College Avenue; thence Northerly along the Westerly line
of College Avenue to the Northerly line of said Lot 24;
thence Westerly along the Northerly line of said Lot 23 and
Lot 24 to a line 125.00 feet Easterly of and parallel to
the centerline of Harbor Boulevard; thence Northerly along
said parallel line to the Southerly line of Lot 2 of said
Fairview Tract; thence Westerly along said Southerly line
of said Lot 2 and the Westerly prolongation thereof to a
line 50.00 feet Westerly of and parallel to the centerline of
Harbor Boulevard; thence Southerly along said parallel line
to the North line of Tract No. 2822, as shown on a map
thereof recorded in Book 116, pages 3 to 18, inclusive, of
Miscellaneous My s of Orange County, California; thence
Westerly along the said North line of said Tract No, 2822,
10.00 feet to a line 60.00 feet Westerly of and parallel to
the centerline of Harbor Boulevard; thence Southerly along
said parallel line to. the South line of said Tract No. 2822;
thence Westerly along the said Southerly line of Tract No.
2822 to the centerline of Lemon Street as shown on a map
of said Fairview Tract; thence Southerly along the center-
line of Lemon Street to the centerline of Elm Avenue;
thence Westerly along the centerline of Elm Avenue to the
centerline of Orange Avenue; thence Southerly along the
centerline of Orange Avenue to a line parallel to and 50.00
feet Northerly of the centerline of Adams Street; thence along
said parallel line South 890 20' 18" West, 515.61 feet to
the beginning of a tangent curve concave Southerly having
a radius of 1050.00 feet; thence Westerly along said curve
through a central angle of 280 281 391, an are length of
521.88 feet; thence South 560 09' 11" West, 4.12 feet;
thence North 330 501 49" West, 0.34 feet to a line 50.00 feet,
measured at right angles, northwesterly of the centerline of
Adams Street; thence, departing from the exi.stinr boundary of
the City of Costa Mesa, Southwesterly and Westerly along a
line 50.00 feet northerly of the centerline of Adams Street
to a line 500.00 feet, measured at right angles, Westerly
of the West line of said Fairview Tract; thence Southerly
along said parallel line to the South line of said Fairview
Tract; thence Easterly along the Soath line of said Fairview
Tract to the point of beginning.
FURTHER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on the 29th day of February,
1960, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. on said day, or as soon thereafter
as the matter may be heard, at the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the
City of Costa Mesa, 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, California, a hearing
will be had, at which hearing the City Council shall hear and pass u,---
all
ponall written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said hear-
ing by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed to
be annexed, and at any time before the said hour set for said hearing any

owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a
written protest against the annexation. The protest shall set forth the
name of the owner of the property affected and give a description of the
said property in general terms.
The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed and
L authorized to cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week
for two weeks prior to said hearing in the GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a news-
paper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa,
and in the NEWPORT HARBOR ENSIGN, a newspaper of general circulation,
printed and published in the County of Orange.
The City Clerk is further authorized and directed to mail a notice
of the proposed annexation to ail persons to whom land proposed to be annexed
is assessed in the last available equalized assessment roll, at the address
shown thereon or as known to said City Clerk.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, this 18th day of January, 1960.
