HomeMy WebLinkAbout648 - Sunflower Annexation - Initiating Proceedings®-' RESOLUTION No. 648 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA, INITIATING PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERT- AIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY ON ITS OWN MOTION, AND GIVING NOTICE OF SAID PROPOSED ANNEXATION. WHEREAS, there is situated outside of and contiguous to the City of Costa Mesa certain uninhabited territory as hereinafter more particularly described; and WHEREAS, the City is initiating proceedings to annex said un- inhabited territory on its own motion; and WHEREAS, the reasons for desiring said annexation are to sake possible the orderly planning, development and zoning of said area, and the area adjacent thereto, now within the City, and for the further reason that the property owners of a majority of the assessed valuation in the territory, have consented to the proposed annexation; and WHEREAS, there has been submitted heretofore to the Orange County Boundary Commission a legal description and map of the herein- after described territory proposed to be annexed to the City of Costa Mesa. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that proceedings be, and they are hereby, initiated to annex the said territory as hereinafter described, which said real prop- erty is contiguous to the present boundaries of the said City of Costa Mesa, and which property is at the present time uninhabited as defined in Section 35303 of the Government Code of the State of California. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the City of Costa Mesa, California, to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Mesa, and said proposed annexation is hereby designated as "SUNFLOWER ANNEXATION". The specific description of the boundaries of the territory so proposed to be annexed is as follows; Beginning at a point in the boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, said point being the intersection of the northerly line of Baker Street, 80.00 feet wide, and the West line of Lot 9, Block "B", Berry Tract, as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 9, page 6 of Miscellaneous Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence northerly along the West line of Lot 9, the West line of Lot 2, the northerly prolongation of the [Jest line of Lot 2, and the West line of Lot 2, Block "C" of said Berry Tract to the South line of that certain 60.00 foot wide street described in MINUTE Order of Acceptancera:oxded in Book 536, page 17 of Deeds, Records of Orange County, California; thence westerly along said South line to the TTest line of Smalley Road as shown on a Record of Survey Map file d in Book 17, page 32, Records of Surveys, in the office of the County Recorder of Orange County, California, said West line being 25.00 feet westerly, measured at right angles from the centerline of said Smalley Road; thence northerly along said West line to its intersection with a line parallel with and 19.84 chains northerly, measured at right angles, from the centerline of said certain 60.00 foot wide Street described in Minute Order of Acceptance and recorded in Book 536, page 17 of Deeds; thence easterly along said parallel line to the West line of Bear Street; thence northerly along the West line of Bear Street to the westerly prolongation of the South line of Sunflower Avenue, said South line being 25.00 feet southerly, measured at right angles from the centerline of Sunflower Avenue; thence easterly along said westerly prolongation of the South line and the South line of Sunflower Avenue to the East line of Bristol Street, 80.00 feet wide, as described in a deed to the County of Orange recorded in Book 2290, page 511 of Official Records of Orange County; thence southerly along the E-st line of Bristol Street to the North line of the Berry Tract as shown on a map thereof recorded in Book 9, page 6 of Miscell- aneous Records of Los Angeles County, California; thence westerly along the North line of said Berry Tract to the East line of Bear Street; thence southerly along the East line of Bear Street and the southerly prolongation thereof to the South line of Paularino Avenue; thence westerly along said South line of Paul- arino Avenue to the West line of Lot 1, Block "B" of said Berry Tract; thence southerly along said West line of Lot 1 and the West line of Lot 10 of Block "B" of said Berry Tract to the North line of Baker Street, 80.00 feet wide; thence westerly along the North line of Baker Street to the point of beginning. ftRTMER NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Monday, November 2, 1959, at the hour of 7:30 o'clock p.m. on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Council Chambers of the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, at the City Hall located at 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be had, at which the said City Council will hear protests and objections made by any person owning real property within the territory proposed to be annexed. At any time before the hour set for hearing objections, any owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file written protest against the annexation with the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa and may appear and be heard at said hearing.
