HomeMy WebLinkAbout386 - West 19th Street Improvement - Awarding Contract566 RESOLUTION NO. 386 A Rt SOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA nSA, CALIFORNIA, AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE WORK DESCRIBED IN RESOLUTION OF INTENTION NO. 364. RESOLVED: That the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, California, at a regular meeting thereof on the 15th day of July, 1957, publicly opened, examined and declared all sealed proposals on bids for the following work to be done in said City, to -wit: - The grading, paving, construction of curbs and gutters, concrete cross gutters, sanitary sewers, house connection sewers, manholes, water house connect- ions, relocation of fire hydrants, installation of pipe and structures for drainage purposes, removal of certain obstructions and appurtenant work in connection therewith in West loth Street and certain other streets and easements in said City, all as more particularly described in Resolution of Intention No. 364, and to plans, profiles, draw nus and diagrams for the construction of said improvements, being Plan No. 5, consisting of 36 sheets, on file in the office of the City Engineer of said City of Costa Mesa, and to the specifications for the said work heretofore adopted by the said City Council and on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City, and all of said plans, profiles, drawings and specifications heretofore approved by the said City Council of the said City of Costa Mesa are incorporated herein and made a part hereof, and reference is hereby made thereto for a more particular description of said work. Said City Council has determined and declared that the contemplated work and improvement heretofore mentioned was, in the opinion of the City Council, of more than local or ordinary public benefit and that said City Council has made the expense of said work and improvement chargeable upon the District. For the particular description of the said assessment district, reference is hereby made to said Resolut- ion of Intention No. 364. Said City Council has determ;ned and declared that serial bonds bearing interest at the rate of six per cent (64) per annum and extending over a period ending nine (9) years from the 2nd day of January next succeeding the next October 15th following their date, will be issued hereunder in the manner provided by the "Improve- ment Act of 1911", being Part 5, Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California, to represent each assessment of Twenty Five Dollars ($25.00) or more remaining unpaid for thirty (30) days after the date of the recordation of the warrant. 59', All of the work herein ordered shall be done and carried through in pursuance of an Act of the Legislature of the State of California, designated the "Improvement Act of 1911", being Division 7 of the Streets and Highways Code of the State of California. L Said City Council hereby rejects all of the said proposals and bide excepting the next hereinafter mentioned and hereby awards the contract for said work and improvement to the lowest responsible bidder, to -wit: Sully -Miller Contracting Company, at the prices named in said bid for said work, on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City. The City Clerk of said City is hereby directed to cause a Notice of Award of Contract to be published in the manner and form required by said Code, by two insertions in the Costa Mesa Globe -Herald, a tri -weekly newspaper published and circulated in the said City of Costa Mesa, and hereby designated for the purpose by the said City Council. PASSED AND ADOPTED by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa at a regular meeting thereof held on the 15th day of July, 1957, by the following vote, to -wit: AYES: COUNCILMEN J.
