HomeMy WebLinkAbout443 - Baker Street No. 4 Annexation - Resolution of Intention6w, RESOLUTION NO. 443 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA OF INTENTION TO ANNEX, AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, there is sutuated outside of and contiguous to the City of Costa Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly described, and WHEREAS, the owners of over one-fourth of the land and the territory by area and by assessed valuation as shown on the last equalized assessment roll of the County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having the same annexed with the City of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, it would be for the best interests of the City of Costa Mesa to annex the said hereinafter described property; and WHEREAS, there has been submitted, on or about the 5th day of February, 1958, to the Orange County Boundary Commission a legal description and plat of the said hereinafter described uninhabited area, for its approval, subject to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the approval of said Orange County Boundary Commission has been NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter described, which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of said City of Costa Mesa, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that it is proposed by the said City of Costa Mesa to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Less, which said real property shall, in these proceedings, be known as Annexation No. 22 to the said City of Costa Mesa, and bear the name 'BAKER STREET N0, 4 ANNEXATION"" The specific description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed is as follows: Beginning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, said point being the intersection of the Northerly line of Baker Street (formerly Kent Avenue), 80.00 feet wide, with the Westerly line of College Street (formerly Banana Street) 60.00 feet wide; thence from said point of beginning Westerly along said Northerly line of Baker Street to a line 125.00 feet Easterly of and parallel with the centerline of Harbor Boulevard (formerly Fairview Avenue); thence Southerly along said parallel line to the Southerly line of Maple Avenue, said point being in secured and reported upon by the Boundary Commission with respect to the definiteness and the certainty of the proposed boundaries; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter described, which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of said City of Costa Mesa, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that it is proposed by the said City of Costa Mesa to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Less, which said real property shall, in these proceedings, be known as Annexation No. 22 to the said City of Costa Mesa, and bear the name 'BAKER STREET N0, 4 ANNEXATION"" The specific description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed is as follows: Beginning at a point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, said point being the intersection of the Northerly line of Baker Street (formerly Kent Avenue), 80.00 feet wide, with the Westerly line of College Street (formerly Banana Street) 60.00 feet wide; thence from said point of beginning Westerly along said Northerly line of Baker Street to a line 125.00 feet Easterly of and parallel with the centerline of Harbor Boulevard (formerly Fairview Avenue); thence Southerly along said parallel line to the Southerly line of Maple Avenue, said point being in G64 the existing, boundary of the City of Costa r'esa; thence continuing along said boundary the following courses: Easterly along said Southerly line of Maple Avenue to the Northeasterly corner of Lot 5, Block 1, as shown on a map of Cummine's and Moon's Addition to Fairview, recorded in Miscellaneous Records, Book 26, page 2, of Records of Los Angeles County; thence Southerly along the Easterly line of said Lot 5 to the Northwesterly corner of Lot 11 of said Block 1; thence Easterly along the Northerly line of Lots 11 and 12 of said Block 1 to the Northeasterly corner of said Lot 12; ,thence Southerly along the Easterly line of said Lot 12; the Southerly prolongation thereof and the Easterly line of Lot 3, Block 4, as shown on said map, 307.00 feet; thence Easterly 136.24 feet to the centerline of College Street; thence Northerly along the centerline of College Street, 134.00 feet to the centerline of Spruce Avenue; thence Westerly along said centerline of Spruce Avenue to the Westerly line of College Street; thence Northerly along said Westerly line of College Street to the point of beginning. FiIRTHEP NnTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that on the 7th day of April, 1958, at the hour of 7:30 P.M., on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Council Meetine in the City Hall of the City of Costa Mesa, 695 West 19th Street, Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be had, at which hearing the City Council shall hear and pass upon all written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said hearing by any person owning real property within the territory so proposed to be annexed, and at any time before the hour set for said hearing any owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the annexation. The protest shall set forth the name of the saner of the prop- erty affected and give a description of the said property in general terms. The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby authorized and directed to cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to said hearing in the COSTA MESA GLOBE -HERALD and PILOT, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa, and also in the SANTA ANA RFGTSTER, a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the County of Orange and outside the City of Costa Mesa. The City Clerk is further authoa ized and directed to mail a written notice of the proposed annexation to all persons to whom land proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last available equalized assessment roll, at the address shown thereon or as known to said City Clerk.
