HomeMy WebLinkAbout462 - Reciting Facts of City Election, April 8, 1958692 RESOLUTION NO. 462 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA RECITING THE FACTS OF THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON THE EIGHTH DAY OF APRIL, 1958. WHEREAS, Resolution No. 442 of the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, adopted on the 17th day of February, 1958, called and gave notice of a General Mun- icipal Election to be held in the City of Costa Mesa on the 8th day of April, 1958, for the purpose of electing two members of the City Council, as required by the laws of the State of California governing cities of the sixth class; and WHEREAS, the following candidates were duly and regularly nominated for the two vacancies on the City Council to be filled by said election: and ARTHUR H. MEYERS FRANK E. BISSELL GLENN E. CRABAUGH LELAND M. EDWARDS EVERETT A. REA WALTER WEIMER FRED WILSON WHEREAS, notice of said election and of the nominees was duly given, in the time and in the manner required by law; and WHEREAS, said General Election was duly and regularly held on the 8th day of April, 1958, in the time, form, and manner required by law; and WHEREAS, this 15th day of April, 1956, is the date prescribed by law for the canvassing of the returns of said election, and this Council has on this date canvassed said returns and counted and canvassed the absentee ballots; and WHEREAS, the returns from each of the election precincts at said election, and the results of the canvass of the absentee ballots, are as hereinafter set forth: ARTHUR H. That a total of 4810 votes were cast at said election for the filling of two vacant seats on the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa. The candidates re- ceiving the highest votes, and the total n=ber of votes cast for each, are as follows: CANDIDATE NUMBER OF VOTES RECEIVED EVERETT A. REA 1447 ARTHUR R. MEYERS 1316 BE IT FTRTHER RESOLVED, that th,s City Council hereby finds and declares that EVERETT A. REA and ARTHUR H. METERS are the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes and they are hereby declared elected to the office of City Councilman of the City of Costa Mesa.
