HomeMy WebLinkAbout540 - Harbor Boulevard $45,000 County Fund AskedI � L-1-,3 RESOLUTION NO. 510 A RESOLUTICN OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA REQUESTING THE COUNTY OF ORANGE TO INCLUDE WITHIN THE ARTERIAL HIGHWAY FINANCING PROGRAM THE DEVELOPMMT OF THAT PORTION OF HARBOR BOULEVARD BETWEEN DELHI ROAD AND NEWPORT BOULEVARD LYING WITHIN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa desires to improve that portion of Harbor Boulevard from Delhi Road to Newport Boulevard, lying within the City of Costa Mesa; and WHEREAS, Harbor Boulevard is an important artery in the County of Orange and of general County interest; and WHEREAS, Article 2 and Article 3, Chapter 9, Division 2 of the Streets and Highways Code authorizes a County, if it so desires, to expend funds apportioned to it out of the California Highway Users Tax Fund for aid to any City in the improvement, construction or repair of a street within a City; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors intends to, by appropriate action, provide in the County budget of the Special Road Improvement Fund for the Fiscal Year 1958-1959 a sum of money for the improvement of streets within the incorporated cities of the County in accordance with the Orange County Arterial Highway Financing Program. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby requests the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange to allocate to said City from County Funds the amount of Forty Five Thqusand-.Dollars ($45,000.00), said amount to be matched by funds from said City, to be used to aid said City in the improvement of the first stage of the construction, being that portion of Harbor Boulevard from Delhi Road to Wilson Street lying within the City of Costa Mesa, and for the acquisition of the necessary rights of Way; said improvements and acquisition of rights of way to be in accordance with the attached project statement; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Orange is hereby requested to find that said work and acquisition of rights of way on Harbor Boulevard, in the manner provided, is in the general County interest; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that, by this Resolution, the City of Costa Mesa agrees with the basic concepts of the Arterial Highways Financing Program; and further agrees that its share of the cost of improvements and rights of way will X334 be available for the Fiscal.
