HomeMy WebLinkAbout217 - Mesa No 1 - Intention to Annex31S RESOLUTION NO. 217 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA ?RSA OF INTENTION TO ANNEX, AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF WHEREAS, then is situated outside and eorALgnous to the City of Costa Mesa a certain uninhabited area as hereinafter more particularly decribed; and WHEREAS, the owners of over one-half of the land and the territory by area and by assessed valuation as shorn on the last equalised assessment roll in the County of Orange have expressed themselves as desirous of having the me annexed with the City of Costa Mesa, and WHEREAS, it would be for the beet interests of the City of Costa Mesa to annex the said hereinafter described property, and WHEREAS, there has been submitted on or about the 26th day of March, 1956, to the Orange County Boundary Commission a legal description and plat of the said hereinafter uninhabited area, for its approval, pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the approval of said Orange County Boundary Commission has been secured and reported upon by the Boundary Commission with respect to the definitness and the certainty of the proposed boundaries; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, a City of the Sixth Class, to annex the said real property as hereinafter deserdbed, which said real property is contiguous to the present boundaries of said City of Costa Mesa, and which property is, at the present time, uninhabited. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that it is proposed by the said City of Costa Mesa to annex the hereinafter described real property to the City of Costa Mesa, which said real property shall, in these proceedings, bear the name "MESA #la" The specific description of the boundaries of the territory proposed to be annexed are as followst "Beginning at a point on the existing boundary line of the City of Costa Mesa, said point being on the Easterly line of Monrovia Ave - me and also being the Southwesterly corner of Lot 901, Newport Mesa Tract as shown on a map thereof recorded in Miscellaneous Maps, Book 5, Page 1, records of Orange County, California; thence Southerly along said Easterly line of Monrovia Avenue to the Easterly prolongation of the Southerly line of Lots 1002 and 1102 of said Newport Mesa Tract; thence Westerly along said Easterly prolongation and said Southerly line of Lots 1002 and 1102 and the Westerly prolongation thereof to the Westerly line of Whittier Avemte; thence Northerly along said Westerly line of Whittier Avenue to the Southerly line of Nineteenth Street; thence Easterly along said Southerly line of Nineteenth Street to the centerline of said Whittier Avenue; thence Northerly along said centerline of Whittier Avenue to the centerline of said Nineteenth Street, said point being on the existing bound- ary of the City of Costa Mesa; thence Easterly, Southerly and Easterly along 4aid bouN.dary of the City of Costa Mesa to the point of beginning." 319 FURTHER NOTICE IS HERESY GIVEN that on the 21st day of May, 1956, at the hour of 700 P.M. on said day, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Council meeting at the Justice Court of Newport Beach Judicial District, 567 West 18th Street, Costa Mesa, California, a hearing will be had, at which hearing the City Council shall hear and pass upon all written protests filed at any time before said hour set for said hearing byatp person owning real property within the territory so proposed to be annexed, an at any tim before the hour set for said hearing any owner of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the annexation. The protest shall set forth the name of the owner of the property affected and give a description of said property in general terns. :0 The City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby authorised and directed to cause a copy of this Resolution to be published once a week for two Jweeks prior to said hearing in the Costa Mesa Globe Herald, a newspaper of general circulation, published in the City of Costa Mesa, and also in the Santa Ana Register, a newspaper of general circulation published in the County of Orange and outside the City of Costa Me". The City Clerk is further authorised and directed to mail a written notice of the proposed aunaaation to all persons to whom land proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last available equalised assessment roll at the address shown thereon, or as known to said City Clerk.
