HomeMy WebLinkAbout300 - Baker No. 3 - Intention to Annex1432 RESOLUTION NO. 300 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA OF INTENTION TO ANNEX AND GIVING NOTICE THEREOF. WHEREAS, there is situated outside and contiguous to the City of Costa Mesa, a certain unincorporated area as hereinafter more particularly described; .rrr] WHEREAS, it would be for the best interest of Costa Mesa and its cit- isena for the City of Costa Mesa to annex the said hereinafter described peoperty; and WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa did, on or about the 19th day of Novem- ber, 1956, submit to the Orange County Boundary Commission a legal description and plan of the said hereinafter described uninhabited area for its approval pursuant to Section 35002 of the Government Code of the State of California; and WHEREAS, the approval of the said Orange County Boundary Commission has been secured; NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby resolved, determined and ordered as follows: SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Costa Mesa hereby initiates proceedings on its own motion for the annexation of the following described territory: al Beginning at a point in the existing City boundary of the City of Costa Mesa, said point being the intersection of the Westerly line of College Street with the Southerly line of Baker Street; thence Southerly along said Westerly line of College Street to the center- line of Spruce Avenue, as shown on a map of Fountain Addition to Fairview, recorded in Book 29, page 13 of Miscellaneous Records, Los Angeles County, California; thence Easterly along the center- line of Spruce Avenue to the centerline of College Street, said point being an angle point in the existing boundary of the City of Costa Mesa; thence Easterly, Southerly, Easterly, Northerly and Westerly along said existing City boundary to the point of beginning. SECTION 2. That the said territory proposed to be annexYd to the City of Costa Mesa shall be known as "Baker Street No. 3 Annexation". SECTION 3. That a hearing with respect to said proposed annexation shall be held on the 21st day of January, 1Q57, at the hour of 7230 P.M. before the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, in the Chambers of said Council, located at the Justice Court of the Newport Beach Judicial District, 567 West 18th Street, Costa Mesa, California; that the purpose of said hearing is to hear protests which have been filed by any person owning real property within said territory proposed to be annexed; that at any time before the hour set for said hearing, any Omer of property within the territory proposed to be annexed may file a written protest against the annexation; that the protest shall state the name of the owner of the property affected, and give a description of said property in general terms. SECTION 4. That the reason the City of Costa Mesa desires annexation of the herein -described territory is that said annexation will make possible a more orderly development of the City and make the territory useable by making City water available to the area. The City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to mail a written notice of the proposed annexation to each person to whom land within the territory proposed to be annexed is assessed in the last available assessment roll, at the address shown thereon, or as known to said Clark. SECTION 5. That the City Clerk is hereby authorised and directed to cause a copy of this resolution to be published once a week for two weeks prior to said hearing in the Costa Mesa Globe -Herald, a newspaper of general circulation, printed and published in the City of Costa Mesa, and also in the Newport Harbor Ensign, a newspaper of general circulation published in the County of Grange, and outside the City of Costa Mesa.
