RESOLUTION NO. 90-34
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
COSTA MESA, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE DEPART-
MENT OF GENERAL SERVICES, STATE OF CALIFORNIA,
AND THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION TO ACr ON
THE CITY'S BEHALF IN OBTAINING METHANOL FUEL
FLEXIBLE VEHICLES FOR THE CITY.
WHEREAS, the California Legislature has determined it to be in the
State's best interest to pursue the use of clean fuels, especially methanol,
as a means of reducing air pollution and passed legislation for that pur-
pose, Public Resource Code Sections 25625 et seq.; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to this legislative mandate, the California Energy
Commission has developed a Light -Duty Methanol Fuel Flexible Vehicle Demon-
stration Program to foster the use of methanol as an alternative fuel; and
WHEREAS, the City of Costa Mesa is desirous of participating in the
California Energy Commission programby acquiring and demonstrating metha-
nol fuel flexible vehicles;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Purchasing Agent Anita Bell is
hereby authorized and empowered to execute in the name of the City of
Costa Mesa, an agreement with the California Energy Commission and all
other necessary documents to implement and carry out the purposes of this
resolution.
BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that the City of Costa Mesa authorizes the Cali-
fornia Department of General Services and the California Energy Commission
to act on its behalf to obtain methanol fuel flexible vehicles for aoq�uisi-
tion by the City of Costa Mesa.
