HomeMy WebLinkAbout66-90 - Truck Routes - EstablishingM RESOLUTION N0. 66-90 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA ESTABLISHING TRUCK ROUTES IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 3413.1 of the Municipal Code of the City of Costa Mesa, the City Council may by resolution establish truck mutes within the City; and WHEREAS, this Council deems it to be in the best interest of the City that the truck routes hereinafter set forth be designated and established; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that the following streets and portions of streets be, and the same are hereby fixed, designated and established as routes for motor truck traffic within the City of Costa Mesa: SECTION 1. Through Truck Route No. 1. Harbor Boulevard. For motor truck traffic approaching and entering the City of Costa Mesa over Harbor Boulevard, the following truck routes are hereby established: Harbor Boulevard from the northerly City boundary to Newport Boulevard and along Newport Boulevard as follows: (a) Southeasterly on Newport Boulevard to the City boundary; or (b) Southeasterly along Newport Boulevard to East 17th Street and along East 17th Street to the City boundary; or (c) Southeasterly along Newport Boulevard to Superior Avenue and along Superior Avenue to the City boundary. [ SECTION 2. Through Truck Route No. 2. East 17th Street. For motor truck traffic approaching and entering the City of Costa Mesa from the South along East 17th Street, the following truck routes are hereby established: East 17th Street to Newport Boulevard and along Newport Boulevard, as follows: (a) Southeasterly along Newport Boulevard to the City boundary; or (b) Northwesterly along Newport Boulevard to the City boundary; or (c) Northwesterly along Newport Boulevard to Harbor Boulevard, and along Harbor Boulevard to the City boundary. SECTION 3• Through Truck Route No. 3• Newport Boulevard - Southbound. For motor track traffic approaching and entering the City of Costa Mesa over Newport Boulevard from the North, the following truck routes are hereby established: (a) Along Newport Boulevard to the southeast City boundary; or (b) Along Newport Boulevard to Harbor Boulevard and along Harbor Boule- vard to the City boundary; or (c) Along Newport Boulevard to East 17th Street, and along East 17th Street to the City boundary; or (d) Along Newport Boulevard to Superior Avenue, and along Superior Avenue to the City boundary. 2� SECTION 4. Through Truck Route No. 4. Newport Boulevard - Northbound. For motor truck traffic approaching and entering the City of Costa Mesa over Newport Boulevard from the southeast, the following truck routes are hereby established: (a) Along Newport Boulevard to the northwesterly City boundary; or (b) Along Newport Boulevard to East 17th Street and along East 17th Street to the City boundary; or (c) Along Newport Boulevard to Harbor Boulevard, and along Harbor Boulevard to the City boundary. SECTION 5• Through Truck Route No. 5• Superior Avenue. For motor truck traffic approaching and entering the City of Costa Mesa over Superior Avenue, the following truck routes are hereby established: (a) Along Superior Avenue to Newport Boulevard, and along Newport Boule- vard to the northwesterly City boundary; or (b) Along Superior Avenue to Newport Boulevard, and along Newport Boule- vard to Harbor Boulevard, and along Harbor Boulevard to the City boundary. SECTION 6. Additional Truck Routes. The following streets and portions of streets are hereby designated and established as routes for motor truck traffic within the City of Costa Mesa: (a) ADAMS AVENUE from Harbor Boulevard to the west city limits. (b) BAKER STREET from Harbor Boulevard to Newport Boulevard. (c) BRISTOL STREET from Newport Boulevard to the north city limits. (d) FAIRVIEW ROAD from Baker Street to the north city limits. (e) NINETEENTH STREET from Newport Boulevard to Placentia Avenue. (f) PLACENTIA AVENUE from the south city limits to Victoria Street. (g) VICTORIA STREET from Newport Boulevard to the west city limits. SECTION 7. Use of Truck Routes Required. It shall be unlawful for any operator of a motor truck entering the City of Costa Mesa with a destination outside the City of Costa Mesa to operate said motor truck over any route other than those hereinabove set forth. Trucks originating within the City delivering to certain points within the City shall go from their point of origin to the nearest truck route and shall proceed from there to point of delivery, and upon completing the delivery shall immediately go from that point to the nearest truck route and proceed to their next location from that point. SECTION 8. "Motor Truck" Defined. For the purpose of this Resolution, a motor truck is a motor vehicle designed, used and maintained primarily for the transportation of property, and having an unladen weight of six thousand (6,000) pounds or more.
