HomeMy WebLinkAbout66-108 - Door-to-Door Mail Delivery - Requesting2S7 RESOLUTION NO. 66-108 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA MESA URGING AND RE$UESTING THE POST OFFICE DEPARTMENT TO ESTABLISH DOOR-TO-DOOR DELIVERY SERVICE IN THE CITY OF COSTA MESA. WHEREAS, Postmaster General Lawrence F. O'Brien has announced that the Post Office Department is ready to proceed during the current fiscal year with the expansion of door-to-door service to replace motorized curb - line deliveries; and WHEREAS, Postmaster John B. Klugiewicz has achieved and maintained door-to-door service for more than forty per cent of this City in a sincerely appreciated effort to keep pace with the City's growth; and WHEREAS, some of the older neighborhoods have been left behind in this modernization of postal service, and the increasing density of the City's population requires further expansion of door-to-door service; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that the Post Office Department be, and it is hereby urged and requested to authorize extension of door-to-door delivery service to replace curb -side delivery in areas where such service is now urgently needed.
