HomeMy WebLinkAbout67-47 - Orange County - Sacramento Flight Schedule - Urging AdoptionRESOLUTION N0. 67-47 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COSTA 14SA URGING THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION TO PROVIDE A FLIGHT SCHEDULE FROM ORANGE COUNTY AIRPORT TO SACRAMENTO. WHEREAS, Orange County has been designated as a major metropolitan area and has now become the second most populous county in California; and WHEREAS, because of its rapid rate of industrial and commercial growth, the necessity for air connection with Sacramento to serve business and local governmental agencies becomes increasingly important; and WHEREAS, the over -crowded conditions at the Los Angeles International Airport have created a situation where it takes longer for Orange County residents to get to International Airport than it does to fly to Sacramento; and WHEREAS, the establishment of a flight schedule to Sacramento would bring a much needed service and financial benefit to the residents and taxpayers of Orange County; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Costa Mesa, that the Public Utilities Commission of the State of California is hereby urged and requested to provide a flight schedule from the Orange County Airport to Sacramento as soon as possible; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk of the City of Costa Mesa is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to the Public Utilities Commission.
